Drivers with major Vegas taxi company call strike

Las Vegas is bracing for a disruption after drivers with its second-largest taxi company called a strike.

Drivers at Yellow-Checker-Star Transportation say they plan to walk off the job starting at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

The move comes after the cab company implemented a contract rejected by 70 percent of members of the Industrial Technical Professional Employees Union Local 4873.

Yellow-Checker-Star operates about one-fourth of the city's taxicab fleet. Not all of the drivers are union members, and it's unknown how many plan to strike.

The action could inconvenience tourists spending the weekend in town or trying to get to the airport Sunday.

Officials with the Nevada Taxicab Authority are authorized to issue 30 additional permits to each other cab company in town to ease the potential strike's effect.

Sounds like perfect timing to run that dumbass monorail right down the middle of the strip and shoot it over to the airport. Then maybe I will actually see what the inside of one of those cars looks like.
