Seems like it requires a lot of oversight. Who will enforce this? Can we now look forward to busker fights as they scrap for times lots and circles?

It's funny though. They have to register, but won't have to even give their names?

All I care is clean it up some and get rid of kids just pounding on cans all night long. It has just gotten out of control.

It limits the performers to the number of circles and keeps them apart. Not making them pay or give details helps stave off a court challenge, while the net effect is potentially fewer of them, and restricting where they can operate.

    yup, those are very annoying.
there was a bunch of them out front of Ballys also....
I think the Strip needs to be cleaned up a bit also... ie: the water boys/girls. and the porn slappers.
sell the sidewalks to the casinos so they can make it private property.

Staying at GN mid-November, interested to see how it works out. I'd have to agree that's it's gone WAY downhill the last 4-5 years. It went from a handful of people dressing up as super-heroes, movie characters, etc. to dudes walking around in diapers berating you if you don't support their meth habit.

    Good luck enforcing this.

I give the city credit for trying to do something as it has gotten way past out of control. In this day and age of trying to appease everyone and let's file a suit it is a mess.

i've seen comments more than once about people being hassled by buskers. i guess i'm lucky to never have seen it happen. although i've taken a picture with one only once, and i did tip it.

i'm glad they're trying to bring order to the chaos. i like the concept, but it needs control, no matter what the ACLU tries to tell us.

I don't quite understand how they can stop anyone from just strolling down Fremont street in a costume or not and if someone wants to take a picture of them, they say yes and accept a tip for doing so.
What part of that scenario can be illegal?
    The strolling?
    the looking like a Nun?
The fact that they stop when someone talks to them?

Will it be illegal if I walk Stoned down Fremont Street in Levis Big Bells singing Slow Ride by Foghat while drinking a Sloe Gin Fizz?

If these guys came Strolling Down Fremont street would they need a permit just to be there? (That is the 4 Queens)

yeah, it's tricky to define when hanging out dressed like elvis crosses the lines of loitering and solicitation.

i see the bigger problem being the dance crews and other performers who want a giant ring of tourists gathering to watch their nifty little show. that's where things get really messy.

the LVRJ article quotes a guy saying that the performers, those who have some sort of talent and are vying for a place to earn their tips, will leave for the strip and all we'll have downtown is half-anked cowboys, animated characters and the homeless.

obviously there's no easy solution, but now that we have dance crews and people selling balloon animals and roses made out of palm branches, there needs to be a solution, even if you're allowed to dress like elvis and walk around all night, with or without pants.

i say the only real solution at this point is to privatize the canopy area. how realistic that is, i don't know.
