This seems to be getting some traction and could finally become a reality. I know most agree that the monorail isn't the most convenient form of transportation, but can serve its purpose depending on whereabouts you're staying.

My home base is Mandalay Bay/Delano, so I could see some value in this expansion.

It will be interesting to see how they'll handle the section crossing o'er the Strip.
Should be "tastefully done" so as not to mess up those fabulous photos of the Strip...

This actually looks like it has some traction this time. KTNV's website says that the monorail has meetings with Clark County scheduled in October and November. Though it still sounds like a lot of talk right now. I think the only way this works is if MGM Resorts pumps some money into it.

Looking at the map though, Tropicana should try to get in on this as well. If this goes thru, I think you can kiss a spur to the airport goodbye.

It looks like it's going across from Luxor, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Unless you're staying at a CET property (or MGM), it would be quite a bit of a hike from the monorail station to your hotel. Just my thoughts.

Love it. Hop on a monorail from MB and go all the way to SLS? Sounds great.

I hope this becomes a reality. I do wish they would have a station closer to the Wynn, though.

Is this perhaps in expectation that the NHL stadium will be across the I-15 from MB? So they either extend the track again into the stadium area or build a walkway across from MB so they get all the fans staying on the strip going via their property.

Isn't the T-Mobile Arena already purposed for the NHL?

IIRC both Wynn and Adelson snubbed their efforts when in the planning stages, thus the very obvious bypass of those properties.

Well spotted, I of course meant 'NFL'. I was trying not to use the phrases 'ice hockey' or 'American Football' and confused myself.

I don't see all that much value in it for MGM. If I wanted to get to MB from the monorail, and I stay there or at Luxor often, I just get off at MGM, walk through their building (maybe play a little) cross over to NY NY (maybe play a little) and just cross over to catch the free monorail at ExCal. If I didn't stop to fart around its maybe a 15 minute hike.

I never have a need to get down to SLS, and the walk through a property on that side of the strip, to actually get to a monorail station, takes almost as long as just walking to where I want to be. If I start at MB I take the free one from there, past Luxor and out at Excalibur. Walk right through NY NY and hit Monte Carlo and take that one right through Aria and pop out at Bellagio. So I can get from the far side (MB) pretty much to the center strip for free with very little effort.

And from there I can hit CP, Mirage, TI and everything else I actually want to see before no-mans land past Encore.

I hope this is true and actually works out.

I feel like it is a real hassle getting to Mandalay Bay from MGM.

I stayed at Mandalay Bay only one time. It's a nice hotel, but I felt so isolated down there that I haven't been back.

The walk from MGM Monorail station to Mandalay Bay isn't that bad in isolation (although 15 minutes is speed walking it).

But wherever you got *on* the monorail was probably also a long walk to that station. By the time you get to MB, you feel like you walked more than half the distance.

I took this pic at Luxor in July and was wondering what it was. Could these be the supports for the tram to cross the Strip?

That sure looks like the extant tram to Excalibur. (LOL Egg Salad Bar) :)
