Not that anyone will miss them, but the Las Vegas Club stopped taking reservations for their 400 rooms today. Hmmmmmmm...

To those naysayers of upscaling (myself included) who have lamented the closing of low-roller strip properties, we now have fewer options downtown as well. Three closed hotels within four blocks, including Binions.

on top of fewer options with less rooms available to choose from we know where the prices will be going for the places that are left.

Yep, I remember the huge banner proclaiming "Most Liberal BJ on Earth," and it probably was. Even at $5 and $10 hands, I could usually get a comp to the Upper Deck, and the rooms weren't too bad back then either. Now the LV Club is only good for a cut-through to the Cal. Pity!

Speaking of the LV club's once liberal BJ rules, who has the most liberal rules now?

I was just there. They have begun casino renovations. I took lots of pics that I'll share when I return home this weekend. BTW, the haunted attraction is still in the back. I got upstairs and took photos looking down on it. The south tower elevators have been blocked off, tho, and they have reopened that snack bar that was once Tinocco's Express counter.

Totally agree. Something about playing BJ there I always enjoyed. Nice laid back atmosphere.

Now that the snack bar has reopened I wonder if they will reopen the resturant too.

I didn't mind staying at the lvc, while others thought it was a dump, the rooms were safe and it was a good bargain at one time. It's been almost a couple of years since they started renovations and closed off some of the rooms certain times of the year but we still haven't seen much improvement in the place (actually the opposite is true).

While there might be some potential in fixing up the lvc, IMHO I don't feel current management will step up and do a good job with the place. Just look at how they are running the plaza and you know what I mean. I wish they would sell both places to owners that will do a good job and bring back the crowds.

I also remember lvc when they offerred surrender option.

I stopped by the place last month. looked like they were trying to set up that counter area to reopen. They really needed something in the place since there are no eateries. I doubt they would open the tinoco area unless someone is willing to spring for reopening it. When it was changed (from the greater moments restaurant) the restaurant was hardly used, mostly empty most of the time, they just couldn't keep it open paying the staff from nonexistent revenues IMHO. I don't think another restaurant will do well there either (maybe an in n out? lol, kidding).

With the hotel being closed most of the time, I can't even imagine the state of disrepair some of those rooms must be in.

Imagine your grandma's old house, but with no upkeep for weeks and weeks.

There has got to be some dust buildup and cobwebs. It actually sounds fascinating/creepy to walk through if I could.

Lol, yes I think it will be fascinating/creepy. While some people might want it, I am actually afraid that they will try to pawn me off on the Plaza. I have stayed there dozens of times over the years, and really the only BIG complaint I have ever had was the elevators. Everything else I could live with, although it was getting pretty bad. I said the same about the Plaza, but at the end, it was getting to be too much for even me.

I think that El Cortez's single deck game has the lowest H.A. in town.
