I think most of us here are used to this question.

What makes vegas so appealing slash addictive to you?

I suppose its watching how all the people react to Vegas. Most of my Vegas visits are solo and include business. I live in Nevada, so the gambling's nothing new to me, but I rarely and I mean rarely gamble outside of a Vegas visit. I love listening to people during the flight in... even though I'm just coming outta Reno, there's always lots of people on the plane who've connected from somewhere else or going to LV for a special party or occasion. I love listening to how excited they are and explaining to others what they're going to do while in town.

I love the people watching at McCarran... literally running off the plane to get their visit started and then of course, the lifeless folks heading home whose wallets are empty and heads are pounding, but still manage to be laughing about the time they just had.

I like the hotels, watching the real high-rollers operate as well as the wanna-be high-rollers. I love watching the people who part with a $20 bill into a machine like it's losing an old friend contrasted with the people who can't seem to shove them in fast enough. I also like listening during check-in at how many people seem to be having a birthday or anniversary... hoping for a room upgrade. The desk clerks must have heard it all.

I particularly LOVE having breakfast around 6 a.m. and watching the "walk of shamers" comin' in... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! Not to forget the runners, who are out exercising that early and thinking they couldn't have had much fun last night if they're doing that so early. I also enjoy staying up late and hearing people tell the bartender, "I'll have just one more than I'm outta here" 20 times! (I of course, have NEVER done this!)

I enjoy people who sat out at the pool till they're lobster-red standing in line to get into the club, looking like they're hating life, but once they're in and the music's thumping and the cocktails are rollin' are on "top of the world"!

I mostly like how Las Vegas seems to make every visitor, no matter what their income level or station in life, forget about their problems back home and "let their hair hang down" for the duration of their stay. It's a reminder of the fun in life!

Next time somebody says "Vegas...again?" to me I'm going to take the gloves off. The same people who say that to me go to the same spot in Florida every single year. Or go on the same cruise, same cruise line every year. Or go to their cottage that's been in the family for 3 generations all the dang time. Or my favourite, they don't go anywhere or do anything on their time off...if they even take time off.

Sorry, that wasn't your question. But, I had to get that off my chest. I feel better now.

+1 million. the same people who criticize you for your choice in vacation travel go and do the EXACT same thing year after year. Lady at work is always so quick to provide her input yet goes and does the same chit every single year. Annoying biatch!

We get asked that same question every time we go to Disney too and I always say why do you care where we spend our hard earned money?

I have only been to Vegas once with our next time next month(yay!!) and my husband has been a few more times but for us its like a total escape from reality! We can just have fun and leave all the stress and crap at home. I think thats why we take our family trips to Disneyworld too since its also fantasyland and to us a vacation is about being on the go and cramming as much in as possible and needing a vacation from our vacation!

Just because it is Vegas thats why we love it, I have been 3 times now.

1st time: Seeen in concert Elton John, Tom Jones and also went to see Penn and Teller
2nd Time: Flew over and landed in the Grand Canyon, seen David Copperfield.
3rd Time: Seen Rod Stewart in concert, went to a gun range for the first time in my life and jumped off the Stratosphere tower attatched to a cable.

Now come on where else are you going to do things like that.

My favourite line from people who I tell I have been or going to Vegas who have never been themselves is, " Iam not really gambler though"

Iam sure other's on here have heard that line before as well

YES!!! Every trip I find that BeachCrazy and I have the same conversation about how Vegas is our "happy place" where things don't seem to matter that are so important at home. We just walk around a city, preferably with a full drink in our hands, and meet all the friends we didn't know we had.

Yeah, I hear that one a lot too. Sometimes I just shrug my shoulders and say "Ok" but sometimes I'll list all the non-gambling things I did on my last trip. I play a lot more VP than most people I know would do, but that doesn't mean that's the ONLY thing to do in town.

My favorite moment of every Vegas trip seems to be the random high five. It's always someone has had a good hit at the casino, often me playing VP by myself somewhere. I celebrate a bit and there is always someone right there to give me a random high-five as they move through the casino. Sometimes I hear a screaming craps table and run over to give random high-fives. Try it, it's really fun!

I also like that every trip I see something I can honestly say is something I have not seen before. Whether it is an all green version of Alan from The Hangover on St Patrick's Day or Elvis and Batman fighting over a tip after a photo op on LVB. I can't say I've ever seen either of those things at home. :haha:

a break from it all, no worries about work, husband (although I tend to drunk text/dial him..lol) or my 3 boys - although I do miss them after the first 24hrs. I love to just be me for a few days without a care in the world, gamble, eat great food, drink, dance, party, drink:beer:

I watch everything on TV that has to do with Vegas and always am looking at trip prices even if I know I'm not going for awhile. Catch up on what's happening with blogs and message boards...seriously addicted

Heck I even decided to run my first half marathon this Nov in Vegas just for another excuse to go to Vegas..but I also like running and no I'm not one of the early morning runners on the strip during my regular trips like the previous poster mentioned.

It's the titties. Nice titties are everywhere in Vegas and who doesn't like titties?

For me it's because of the complete absence of anything where I live. There is literally next to nothing here to do when you're not working or sleeping, and yes, I'm being completely serious about that. Add in that there are no other cities close by with entertainment either (Phoenix is the closest and it's 6 hours away) and there's my motivation for Vegas.

I figure if I'm going to have to pay to go somewhere, may as well be Vegas! Food, people, shows, gambling - I suck it all in until the next time I can escape the desert.

I love how Vegas seems like an alternate reality. You will never have so much fun... even just sitting outside on a bench is so much fun because you will see the most entertaining idiots you've ever seen in your life. Also, where else can I go where I can gamble, drink as I walk down the street, catch a Cirque show, eat at a 5 star restaurant, catch a light show playing right above my head for free, get naked girls on cards tossed in my face every minute, ride a roller coaster, listen to dueling pianos, AND have a very relaxing spa day all within a 6-8 mile radius and in one day?
