How much does it generally cost to park your car at or near the airport when you live in Vegas and fly someplace else on vacation? We saw a lot for $15 a day and that is very high! Surely there are other alternatives?
    Thanks!

When we lived in Vegas, I think McCarren was $15 per day. Hell, even here in Milwaukee the airport parking is ~$13 per day, but there are plenty of off-site places to park for $5-6 per day.

I don't recall seeing those type options in Vegas. But, when we lived there, we only flew twice.

We pay about $7 or $8 a day in Columbus, Oh for off site. The airport runs a free shuttle.

Why not park at a hotel and take a shuttle to the airport? I've heard of people leaving their car at a hotel for weeks at a time. Quite possibly cheaper than the parking, even if you do valet at the hotel.

So for a trip longer than 3 days it would be cheaper to park at MGM and Taxi to and from the Airport? :wink2:

Oops, I see matguy beat me to it.

You're a Buckeye? I knew there was something I liked about you besides your trip reports.

For trips longer than a couple days we valet at MGM or NYNY and take a taxi to/from the airport. Weekend getaways we'll use the economy lot if we can't find a ride.

Canton-Akron Airport has a lot onsite that runs $7 daily. You can walk to the terminal or take a shuttle. I love our big little airport.

Cleveland is more expensive and less convenient but is still nothing like $15. Rather than pay that price, I'd be tempted to take a cab from home to the airport or to the nearest free shuttle.

The last two times I flew out of PHL I used a Groupon deal and I just bought another Groupon for an upcoming trip, $27 for up to 5 days. I think standard parking is around $13 per day and some off site lots are $9.

Not sure what the hotel policies actually are, but I've valeted at MGM for eight days without issue. When we did Italy for two weeks, I had my brother drive us.

If you're gone for quite a bit then calculate the difference between leaving your car at an off-site parking lot versus getting a round-trip car service to/from your home and the airport.

Personally, I do car service if I'm away from home for more than 4 days. I feel more comfortable knowing that my car is inside my garage than a parking lot where it can get damaged/broken into.

A couple weeks ago when we were taking the bus from Suncoast to downtown, we were joined by a local couple who were living near the casino. They left their car at Suncoast and took the WAX bus to the airport for $1 each.

I didn't ask for details about how the casino feels about it but they said they always do that. They were going out of town for 8 days.
