I didn't realize it's such a big park. Is there a specific entrance I should take? Not sure exactly what I want to do.

Maybe a scenic drive? Beach? Relax?

Anything I should see or do? And what entrance is best.

    Thanks

Do you fish? There is a great guide I can recommend.

Unfortunately, I don't. I was looking for something scenic or picture taking. A nice walk perhaps. Beach or just near the water. Guess I could just drive around. And explore that way too :)

There is a loop from valley of fire that takes you from there out to the main enterence near 93.... in the morning I will link a map to you... the valley is great as well.

Never did much walking at the lake or a beach.

Look up the Rail Trail at Lake Mead. Lots of nice reviews on TripAdvisor. I walk it frequently. It's 4.7 miles from the parking area near the entrance to the park (no entrance fee) to the dam, quite a hike! Beautiful panoramas, five tunnels.

If you go into the park, consider buying some loaves of day old bread and go to the docks at the marina. Hundreds of carp and striped bass, literally will eat out of your hands. I've taken dozens of friends there over the years, great place for kids, nice beach.

One caution, the parking lot at the marina: I've seen cars broken into there twice. Hide everything, including your GPS. Also, when coming down the hill on 93 watch your speed. Boulder PD is sometime there. In fact they patrol their whole city pretty diligently in my opinion. I've never been ticketed but I go there often, seen lots of blue lights!
