    My Trip Report

Ha ha, now that I have your attention go ahead and read the rest of the TR :D!

    02/28/2010:
We left Boston on Feb 28th around 6 PM EST and reached LV around 9:30 PM PST. Emmanual from Presidential Limo was waiting for us near the baggage claim and wifey was pleasantly surprised by this :)! I had a smile on my face now that we had actually landed in LV, we were no longer LV virgins! Man, US Airways takes forever to put the passengers luggages on the carousel, but Emanual was calm and patiently waited as we spoke about how the economy has hit LV and other stuff. Once we picked the luggage, we were off to the strip and Limo guy offered a rose to the lady which made her happy! He took the initiative to takes us round the strip (since we told him it was our first trip to LV) and dropped us of at Venetian around 11 PM PST. At the checkin we were greeted by Jackie a middle aged Hispanic lady, tried the $20 trick, but they were booked due to some ASP or APS convention, she gracefully returned the money back and gave us a 9th floor room facing the garden and pool and a partial view of the strip. Reached the room, were quite happy with it, ordered some food from their in-suite dining menu and ZZzzzzz........

    03/01/2010:
Woke up pretty early, since our body was still following the EST, went to the coffee shop at the Grand Canal shoppes at Venetian, got our Grazie cards printed out (with $15 slot credit), asked if we could get points for in-suite dining, she said yes and also asked if we had booked tickets for Phantom show (which we had) and took photo copies of the bills and said we have earned 5 points for each dollar we have spent so far and also reminded us to charge everything to the room. Spent rest of the day in and around the Grand Canal Shoppes, ate at Grand Lux Cafe (food and margaritas were quite nice). Saw Phantom - very nice show, I highly recommend it. Had our dinner at Del Monico - decent food. Went out to see the Volcano at Mirage and just walked around the Las Vegas Blvd, watching people. Hit the sack around 11 PM PST as we had a day long conducted Grand Canyon Tour early next day.

    03/02/2010:
Woke up around 6 AM PST and go ready for the Grand Adventures conducted tour to Grand Canyon, the guide was at the Venetian by 7:50 AM and we stopped at Mc Donalds for all you can eat breakfast. After this we set out to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon Sunset tour. First stop was Kingman, then Seligman (Route 66), then Hoover Dam and finally Grand Canyon (South Rim I guess). It just took our breaths away, felt like a slice of heaven on earth being there, a photographer's paradise. Saw the sunset and the guide dropped us back at Venetian by 11 PM PST, we were dead tired by the time we reached our room. Ordered some food from in-suite dining menu and Zzzzz...

    03/03/2010:
Woke up around 10: 30 AM PST, realized that we had a coupon for $25 slot credit in out ACG book, so headed out to Grazie club, got the amount credited and wifey took both the cards and started playing on the 1 cent machines. Lot the $15 on her card, then took my card and for some reason started betting Max on my card and BINGO! she won $200 immediately!! Wohoo!! Went to Grand Lux Cafe, had lunch and loads of Margaritas and went to the room for a quick change and off to TI and then to MGM Grand. Spent sometime near the Lion's den/exhibit. Joined the player's club there, but no free money to play slots there. Went around the casino, wifey wanted to try her luck there and she spent around $50, but nothing! It was time for the KA show. Beautiful show, two thumbs way up from me on this. We were sitting right behind a kid who was 4/5 years old and he was laughing out loud and saying things which made our KA experience even better! After the show, we went to PF Chang's (Wifey wanted to) for dinner, I ordered a scotch on the rocks and I got a huge glass full of it (almost a whole half pint of it)...no complaints ate and drank. Then we were off to Bellagio to see the Water/fountain show. It is good. Went inside Bellagio, spent some time there and before you know it midnight, we decided to head back to the room.

    03/04/2010:
Woke up pretty late in the day, decided to take it easy on the last day of the trip, so went to the Venetian Casino for some craps and blackjack lessons, decided to play a few hands but the table minimums were around $15, so decided not to, rather gave another $20 for wifey to play on her fav slots and lo and behold, she won - this time around $200 again!!! Wifey was all excited and happy (so was I - now that she likes it here, I can convince her for many more future LV Trips :D). Went to eat -again at Grand Lux, had atleast 3 margaritas and food. Ventured out to Casino Royale next door, for $50 slot credit (but beware, you need to hit the winning combination specified on the slot machines to actually get anything as $$ cash). Didn't like the atmosphere or the crowd there (but the drinks were quite cheap - around $1 for Michelob I guess, not a beer guy so didn't pay much attention to it). Wifey wanted to see the Volcano again, so saw it, ate dinner at (surprise surprise) Grand Lux - this time had 4 margaritas and food. Went to the Grazie club and asked if we had earned any comps - she said nothing but a $25 slot credit, took it, wifey played her slot again and won $50!! Ventured back on the LV Blvd, walked quite a bit watching people and headed back to the room around 2 AM.

    03/05/2010:
We had an early flight back to Boston, so woke up around 4 AM, again the Presidential Limo guy was there to drop us off. Reached Boston by 3:20 PM EST.

Likes and dislikes on the trip -
    1.) Venetian -
Likes: Liked the huge suites. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful.
Dislikes: Started getting slight headaches after constantly inhaling the "incense" that the Venetian guys pump through their vents! The gals who serve the drinks in their Casinos were quite obnoxious to folks like us (who played on 1 cent machines), at the sametime the gals at the MGM were so friendly over at MGM. The bar lady was there almost every 5-10 mins checking if we wanted anything (while we played on the 1 cent slot machines there). This may play a factor while we decide where to stay on our next trip to LV.

    2.) Casino:
Likes: We found that the slot machines @ Venetian were quite "consumer friendly". Quite a few of the folks on the neighboring machines got more than what they invested in. CR was quite a disappointment. MGM was by far the most friendly ones for us newbies! Next time intend to enhance my Craps and BJ skills and start playing them. Plan on visiting just the casinos and the rest of the Cirque de Soleil shows on our next trip!

BTW, I see that we still have not been credited the Grazie points for the show tickets, in suite dining and shopping we charged on the room, anyone know how long they take to show up?

Any advices for future trips too would be highly appreciated!

over time, you will find out which casinos you like over others, and for some of the reasons you listed. Everyone has their personal favs for one reason or another. Try a few more next time until you find your personal home when you visit.

Sounds like you had a great time!

Grazie points you earned from your hotel charges should show up within a few days. For some reason they seem not to actually process your hotel bill against your credit card for a few days, at least that's what I've experienced on my stays. But once your credit card gets charged, your points should show up.

Cocktail waitresses generally don't care what denomination machine you're playing; it's what you tip (or don't) that matters.

Sounds like a great first trip! Thanks for posting. Next time you will have to give Downtown a try for an evening. Sounds like you two have caught the "bug"!

Thanks everyone who read and replied back to the TR.

@Chuck, I certainly would have tipped the waitresses if only they showed some courtesy to ask for a drink. infact at MGM the first 2 buds that we were offered were free and I tipped the waitress there $4 for the 2 free drinks....Yes, you are right, my CC was charged and I see the points now.

@Gambler: We certainly have caught the bug for sure.....Next trip would be to casinos nearby to "practice" our BJ and Craps skills and hit the strip casinos big time!
