    My Trip Report

Stream of conscientiousness thoughts. (Pics to follow)

    1. This trip was to pick up a Samsung Chromebook, secure some freeplay ($300), play in a few tournaments, and generally get the hell out of Dodge to regain some sense of sanity from work.

    2. Hotel stays? Maybe it would be better to list the hotels I didn’t have a reservation. CP, Cosmo, PH were the hotels I slept in but I rooms at the Orleans, MSS, 4Q, and the Plaza.

    3. Rental car. Ford Focus with a leaking tire. I pumped the damn thing up twice at various gas stations. When I picked up the car, my name was not on the TV screen and I marched upstairs to the booth to raise hell. I am an Express member and for some reason, there was a shortage of vehicles. I needed to get downtown before midnight and the clock said 11:30 pm (My flight out of New Orleans was delayed 90 minutes). I raced downtown on a leaking tire and probably lucky they didn’t scrape my charred remains off the I15.

    4. Plaza. I was invited to a slot tourney and matching tiers in their rewards program, upgrade my room blah blah blah. The boothing was still there and he set me up in the Aces tier (I am CET 7*). Headed over to registration and of course, no suites available. I was going to crash there if I was able to get in a suite since I had to be up early for the tourney, but eff it. Played a bit and grabbed some food at the McD’s. The Plaza is awful ghetto at 2 am but the folks are just keepin’ it real.

    5. Caesars. I arrived at Caesar’s around 2:30 am and headed up to my Octavious 1 bedroom suite. Commence meltdown. Maybe it was the long day(up over 24 hours), the Plaza mess, the delayed flight, the damn rental car, I blew up like Pompeii during the Volcano eruption…right in front of the bellhop. Handicap room, no jetted tub, weird shower, no work chair (as to accommodate a wheelchair), on and on. I got on the horn, chewed ass, and was promised a call back. Ended up on the top floor of the Forum tower in a suite (pics below). Now this is what I’m talking about.

    6. Up early and back down to the Plaza. Posted mediocre tournament score. The “emcee” was one of these clowns walking around with a mike making dumbass comments and trolling for liquor. “King is gonna buy me a shot when he hits double diamonds…” No, King is gonna shove that mike up your sorry ass once I get off this dead machine…
My second score in the afternoon was much better. I needed a solid 3rd score the next day to finish in the money. Well, forget that. I was late for my third session due to a late-running bingo tourney, but the host graciously allowed me to play in a later session. I finished in 89th place for $100 bucks. We filed into the Plaza showroom Sunday morning for a breakfast brunch and a giveaway. It was a clustereff. I could not get any coffee (or anything liquid) served until I had eaten a full plate. They hauled out Oscar Goodman to pimp his book. Did ya’ll know he was in the movie Casino? As Joe Pesci would say, Who da fuk duddn' know dis?!" Then we were treated to some half ass show that should be seen after 10 pm not 10 am. Just get the drums out here and do the drawing. Of course, the aforementioned assclown emcee milked the whole sham with his bad jokes. I won nothing.

    7. Bingo at the Quad, baby. Yes, bingo. The prize pool was rich so I bit on it like a hungry bass. My buddy and some others were also in Vegas so we had fun with it. We filed into a huge room with our blotters and papers. Of course I chose a seat near a drunk that would not shut up. ******bag. Also, 2 people hit next to me.

    8. Orleans. In the middle of all this, I squeezed in a slot tourney at the Orleans. I put up a laughable score in round 1 and blew off round 2.

    9. MSS. I played in a slot tourney the next Monday at the MSS. You drew for your machine, the mike woman said “3…2…1…go!” and we were off. She never said another word (the way it should be). My machine went off. The jackpot reel was red, white, blue big Kahunas and I hit it many times including back to back twice. My score was over 21,000. My next day score was just under 20k. Finished 8th for another 100 bucks. I had a real shot at winning this one, but it wasn’t in the cards…reels.

    10. Food. I’m not much of a foodie and living in New Orleans, great food is normal thing for me. I did check out the Ole Homestead in CP. I ordered the filet, crab cake, mushrooms, creamed corn, and a bloody Mary. While the filet was a good piece of meat, it was not in the class of a Ruth’s Chris or a Besh Steak here in New Orleans. It’s good but not worth the price. (I ate a steak at MSS last month that was tougher than Rambo on a POW camp.)
I ate at the Bacchanal buffet 3 or 4 times. Also, the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmo. Obviously my diet needs to be restarted.

    11. Cosmo. Meltdown Part II occurred at check in. I was directed to a line and I waited. And waited. And waited. Obviously, the family in front of me was applying for a mortgage or having a family reunion at the check-in desk. With steam pouring out of my ears, someone came from the back and escorted me to a back room. I slammed my cards on the desk and said give me the best thing you have in the Eastside wing.

    12. Planet Hollywood. My host set me up in a Strip side suite but frankly, they suck. They are not really suites and the bathroom A/C sounded like a lawnmower when it cranked up. With the mesh on the hotel, you really have no view anyway. I’m done with this place.

    13. Golf. I practiced at the Callaway Center. Hot. I played at Rio Secco (free round courtesy of CET). What a great layout. My tee time was at 6:30 am and the weather could not have been any better. It was actually cool in the morning when the breeze kicked up. They paired me with a member, a great guy that educated me about the place without pretentiousness or condescension. Me: rented clubs, rented shoes, rented balls no practice time all could have spelled disaster, but I played awfully well for my lack of play the past few months. My playing partner was amazed. (Me too!) I walked in the clubhouse and announced I used only one ball the entire round…the Baby Jesus still works miracles! (It tried to hide in the desert a couple of times but I’m good at hide-and-seek. {Not the Baby Jesus...my golf ball})

    14. Laundry. When staying over 9 days, clothes gotta get clean somehow. I stopped at the place on Arville near the Palms and dropped a load…so to speak.

    15. I worked out at Caesars Palace 3 or so times. It’s tough to drag yourself out of bed and hit the gym while in Vegas.

    16. Shopping. I picked up a Nike Fuelband. Probably a piece of crap, but it looks good. http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/setup/fuelband

    17. Gambling. Let’s get down to business. I ended down about $500. Not bad over 9 days. I had 3 payable jackpots (pics included). I have been on an ACES run and this trip did not disappoint. I hit AWAK 5 times and AWOK another 7 times. Let’s break it down by casino.
Plaza. I actually did well on the triple plays. Craps not very good.
El Cortez Picked up a small amount of free play. Poured it into the triple plays next to the poker room. Cashed out +$100. I love when this happens although about as common as a dinosaur sighting. No craps. Stepped up to the table and wasn't feeling it. The smell of degeneracy was strong.
Four Queens. I swear I can’t win diddly-squat in this place anymore.
The D. Received the new rewards card and played craps. Ugh. I took the escalator upstairs to check it out. I sat down at a $1 WOF machine, the only slot machine I play. Hit the spin and nailed the $1000 slot like a 2 dolla ho.
MSS. Lost a quick $500 my first night, but later trips paid off. I hit 2 royals, one on a triple play that included a straight flush on the same hand. Another on the .25 ddb progressive bank where the amount had reached over $2300.

Cosmo. Nothing! Let’s move on and not even discuss.
    Paris. Ditto.
M Resort. Nothing. Somebody blow this place up.
PH. Losses on the triple plays, but found a single line machine that paid $1000. Dealt aces without kicker and pulled the kicker on a redraw. All done on freeplay. Yay!!
Orleans. This place has been my personal ATM the past 2 trips, but it was a bloodbath this trip. It contributed to my losing $3500 in one day. Triple plays all over, craps, genocide on my bankroll. I should have spent the entire day at the pool.
    Quad. Craps, moderately up.
Bellagio. This place saved my bankroll. Trying to pull out of a downward spiral, I hit the triple plays. Nothing on one machine, I moved and hit AWAK at the .50 level. I also pulled 4’s on 2 panels of the same hand. Of the 15 cards on the screen, 11 were 4’s. I cashed out up over $1000.
Caesars. On the triple plays (.50), I was dealt a full house (aces full). Dropped the kings, held the aces, and drew 2 panels of AWAK for 2000. (Pic)

I moved to another machine, dealt 3 aces, and pulled quad aces (no kicker) on 2 hands. I played the dollar machines in the front casino, but rarely hit anything there. It’s high time I hit a royal there.
Craps. I sauntered over to the craps table to end my trip. Bought in for $200, got down to the wood, and cashed out over $1000. Asian next to me had taken out a 5k marker and cashed out over 7K. Dude had a great roll going when a bachelorette party showed up. Yes, they looked good, but the skanks killed the momentum with barging into an already crowded table, asking inane questions, slowing down the whole process. You know what happened next. Commence Meltdown III. Next, I rolled out some numbers and passes but the momentum was gone. Color up!

Flight home uneventful. Able to watch a replay of the New Orleans Saints game against KC on free Direct-TV. Football season is here, thank God!

    18. Next trip. Mid October to pick up a $500 Macy’s card and a $300 shopping spree.

    Done!

Down 500 in 9 days is practically a win! Nice view from your Caesars suite!

Two very nice Royals. The premium win of $2326 was mighty fine! You did we'll.

Let us know if that Fuelband works.

Thanks for the pics of the wins. Unfortunately, I see too few of those and have to drool over other people's wins.

Nice TR and some good hits! You put any bets down on Mississippi State? They are getting 14 opening week at OK State. Could be a blood bath! Let me know next time you guys are heading out as sometimes I can be talked into slipping out for a quick trip!

14? The best I could find was MSU +12.5. I'm tempted to bet the over (60). We are breaking in new corners and our offense should be able to put up points.
What is the Big Orange going to do this year?

Yeah, you need to get out there. My next trip is Oct 17-20.

Its going to be a loooonnnngggg year for the Big Orange. Best case scenario is a 6 win season. We have a new coach, thankfully, who I think will be good. But the cupboard is bare. The Vols have these games back to back: @ #3Oregon; @ #10Florida; South Alabama; #5 Georgia; #6 South Carolina; and @ #1 Alabama:eek:

I am heading back out to Vegas September 19th weekend. My 5th trip already this year. October will be tough, but rodeo in December is a for sure trip!
