not talking video keno but keno rooms- never played - how long between games - can you get comp drinks while playing ? this seems like a good way to maybe pass a little time in the middle of the day . or is it a waste of time ?

It's only a waste of time if you aren't having fun.

Usually it's something like 3-4 minutes between draws. I don't play it very often, but over the years I've played keno (in keno lounges) at Flamingo, California (downtown casino), Fitzgerald's (downtown, now "The D"), and Gold Coast (off-Strip). All will give you free drinks as long as you are playing (I usually order Heineken or some other beer, not sure what you like), though the last time at Gold Coast the drink server told me that they recently went to a "drink ticket" system, where you need to ask for drink tickets when you buy your keno ticket, and it's a minimum $10 ticket purchase overall for a drink ticket-- but she let me slide and served me a Guinness anyway.

It's a slower-paced game, true. You might say, "well, I can buy 10 games and sit there for half an hour," yes... This may seem like cheap entertainment, but keep in mind that the house edge (advantage) in keno is very high compared to other casino games. (See a site like www.wizardofodds.com for details.) Also, hitting a good payout (such as 7 numbers out of 7, or even 7 out of 8) is very rare.

I usually get bored after 20-30 minutes and leave after my games are done, but as with anything else in Las Vegas, different people have different opinions... Hope this helps.

We used to enjoy playing and having our morning coffees in the keno parlors. Not as many casino's have live keno anymore. I'll still play an occasional ticket at Orleans or ElCo.

Drinks are comped in the keno parlor :drunk:

I liked playing keno while eating breakfast. I remember many restaurants would have a "keno lady" who'd walk around and pick up your tickets, so while eating you watch the board...just something to occupy your time while eating

i remember MGM had a keno section which me and the wife would go just to sit and relax a little while. (this was the keno place that was in the movie "las vegas vacation" i could tell by the rug at the time) not sure if they still have it or not.

I think MGM has dropped keno entirely.
