Kayak sent me an email alert about a Hotel sale going on and The Cosmopolitan has a sale so I click on it and then it redirected me to Prestigia.com? Anyone every heard of this site? Plus when I looked at booking it said " Total amount of the stay (VAT excluded)? " What does VAT mean?

Value Added Tax...just another way to jack up the price.

If I called Cosmopolitan would they match it?

Absolutely worth a call. If the first person isn't authorized to make a matched or better offer ask to speak to a manager. I've fallen into the unfortunate trap of booking with a third party site and when issues presented themselves the hotel staff was more reluctant to get involved and directed me to take it up with the site (hotelclick.com) that I made the booking with originally.

VAT is exactly the same as GST, just in the UK law states that they have to quote the price including VAT. Prestigia looks to be a UK registered site so would explain why they've written VAT not GST!
