I guess you get used to it if you live there?

Gee, it was 4 miles away. Find me a basement!

Wow, I don't think I could be quite that casual about a tornado.

I've lived in Kansas for a while now. I don't think you ever "get used to it"

I still lose my mind when one of those things gets within a few miles of me. Maybe I'm just a wuss. Well, not maybe. I am.

I was just amazed at the lack of reaction by the attendees at the wedding.

You have to understand that the tornado was several miles away and it's a pretty sure bet that they knew what direction it was tracking (virtually always towards the NE). Non-natives think they blow the tornado sirens to warn people to take shelter. In reality it's just to let everyone know that something interesting is happening and you should go outside and watch...

If I recall correctly, there was a home destroyed by that one. While tornadoes are amazing to watch (from a safe distance), one must always keep in mind the heavy toll they take on peoples lives. Two homes were completely vanished last night approx. three miles from mine.
