    My Trip Report

Hello to all Vegas fans! I have been on these boards for years but don't post, so I felt I should contribute since I really enjoy reading all of your trip reports. It helps to pass time unitl my next trip, so hopefully I can do the same for some of you waiting for the big day!

My husband and I have been to Vegas over 40 times since 1986 and we love it.
We try to go at least every year, and sometimes 2-3 times a year. I play video poker almost exclusively, a little BJ, and once in while random slots just for fun.

I use to mostly play Dollars(Back in the day when it was good odds, and equal comps, and had not been exploited by So called VP guru's)and win alot, times have changed and it is not what it used to be. But I still love the game and only play DDB, mostly .25 and .50 My husband does not like VP and never wins so of course he hates it, I on the other hand am very LUCKY and hit tons of 4 of a kinds and have hit at least 50 or so royals in my gambling life.

This was a 1 week trip from sat to sat, the longest we have stayed in about 15 years, usually we go for 4-5 nights max, so was a little worried how the bankroll would hold up for 2 of us this long. We flew on SW non stop and arrived on time after freezing our asses off on the plane,it was like flying in a freezer, they said sorry its broken and no blanket because of the swine flu-WTH???

We were comped the first 2 nites at Paris, the next 3 at Venetian, and the last 2 at Mirage. I like moving around as it makes each move feel like the beginning of a new trip.

We met some friends sat nite at gustav's bar and played vp for 5 hours, I was at the same machine the whole time, the service was great, friendly and fast bartenders and lots of 4 of kinds for me, Husband not so much.

Some of the good hits were 4 2's after puting in around 40.00(ON .25)
Hit 4 aces no kicker and a few random 4 of kinds, I was doing well so upped to it to .50cent when 3 hands later I held one Ace and boom , 3 more with a 2! 1000.00 win. Then a few hands later 4 3's with Ace. It was a great run, and we were up 1300 for the night, it would have been more if my hubby was'nt losing consistently, this would be the theme for the rest of the week.

We ate at the burger place in the walkway and it was good, we had 200.00 in reward credits to use up and it paid for a lot of our food, Next day we ate at the sugar factory, it was not good! I had eggs bene that was so disgusting I could not eat it , loaded with garlic, YUCK, Hubbys French dip tasted gamey, I would not go back.

    Day 2

Sunday , We wake up around 7am get ready and head down to the bar for VP and coffee, we drop around 100.00 between the 2 of us and then I finally hit 4 2's with a 3 for 200.00 we play the hundred we are up with no great wins, and leave even after 2 hours. We had rented a car for the week for 157.00 since we had to move hotels and wanted to go to the pawn stars shop and pinball hall of fame, also after being long hauled too many times in the last 5 years,(Before that in all of our trips it had never happened)I did not want to deal with the cabs
    BS>

We had yet to see Cosmo and wanted to go do 100.00 free play if you lose, so we walked across the street(HOT HOT HOT)and we loved it, just beautiful and it smelled so good in there, we signed up for the cards and then went to some bartops that were .25 triple play, MY husband lost his quickly, imagine that, mine lasted a while and hit 4 queens but played it all back, so we go get the FP, and guess what Hubby loses it in like 5 minutes, we stayed at the same machines, I hit 4 3's after the 4th or 5th hand but keep playing, then I hold 3 aces and get the 4th with a 2 kicker. So end up cashing out 700.00 I was happy to get both our losses back and them some, after that we walk around and hubby wants to play some god awful paying slot machine, how does anyone win big on those things, I mean a bonus for .60cents GEEz it's humilating to even offer a bonus like that , then it says BIG WIN 5.00 WTF! I don't get it, what is the point? They are somewhat fun, but you are not going to make any money on those things. I even saw people hitting max bet at 3.00 a spin and still getting bonuses of crap.

We headed back to Paris and played a little BJ , I lost what he won, so he is finally in a better mood since he won something . We were tired so just grabbed some pizza and headed to our lovely room on floor 4 facing a wall.

This is getting too long sorry, I will post the rest of the days later, if you are still reading this.

    Day 3

We get up early again and head down for our morning ritual of coffee and more VP, we don't do as well this am, as spending 200 or so on free coffee.
Head over to Ballys bar and lose some more, ouch, by the time we check out we are only up now around 400$$ but we are happy day 3 to be up money and we gambled a LOT. We could not valet the car and had to park in the garage, it was hell dragging our luggage to and from the car, the car was a brand new ford of some type with more gadgets than I have ever seen, it took us forever to figure it all out, I was really ridiculous.

We then headed down to the pawn stars shop, we had to circle forever to get a parking spot, but finally got one and the line was just letting people in, so no wait, it was semi crowded but manageable, it was really fun looking around at all the stuff you see on tv. After that we went to check in at Venetian, I know alot of people don't like the V but we love the rooms and always get a 3 night comp with some FP and other stuff, this time we took the blue man group tickets. I was 3300 or so points from gold for this year and figured no problem hitting it. We got a nice view from the 29th floor facing the mountains and WYNN golfcourse.

The casino at the V had a new bar and it is all 1.00 or more, every bar was 1.00 and up , and on the floor only 2 yes 2 quarter machines, I was not happy to see this as this is what I play. So I took the 175.00 in fp over to palazzo which did have many more machines, on the 3rd had I got 4 queens and then it dealt me 4 7's 4 hands later so cashed out around 150.00 when I was done. AWe went to the round bar in palazzo which had 2 quarter machines which after I dumped around 200 in I hit 4 aces no kicker so left even for me but my hubby lost around 80.

We then ate at the grand lux which was great as usual. We walked over to TI and my husband played BJ for about 4 hours pressing up his bets he won around 500 and was having a great time with fun people and dealers. I played at the bar and after losing for a while had a good comeback with a 4 of kind frenzy of 2's with kicker. 3's with kicker and aces no kicker, and other generic ones, all on the same machine. With all these winning hands you would think I would be up but I like to play and gave lots back, but had a ton of fun and lots to drink. It was dark when we walked back, where does the time go. Played a little a V and lost so ended up even for the trip. Still have 3 more days of play and were really happy to still be even after tons of play.

We walked over to Harrahs and had the buffet on reward credits and it was decent as buffets go, after all the drinking and food we were ready to pass out. The strip was packed with people, there was a jackson 5 wanna be group outside of harrahs siniging for everyone , it was entertaining walking back.

I will fiinish this up soon

    more later

I was told that accumulating points on VP was different than on slots, is this true?

    Great report! Keep it coming.

I'm surprised you couldn't find anything less than $1 VP at a bar at Venetian. I hate that. :grrr:

    Welcome to the board!:poke:

Interesting report thanks. Enjoying all the VP details and looking forward to the rest of the report. I might even switch to DDB from BP next trip, but it just seems so volatile.

Yes vp is more $$ than slots towards comps.

Sonya I am sad about the V and the bar tops since they are my favorite to play, dollars can kill your bankroll if you are not doing well on DDB, I will most likely stay elsewhere do to this:cry:

DDB is tough you can run thru alot of cash if you are not hitting the premium 4 of a kinds, my husband will tell you that, I have had dry spells also, but for the most part I am very lucky and not afraid to stay on the same machine which sometimes requires putting is alot of cash before hitting, sometimes the gamble pays off and sometimes it does not.

I have to go to work so I fill try to finish this up later tonight
Thanks for reading, and thanks for the welcome!

Great report Rondo. I primarily play slots but what I'm told is that slots gives you more $$/points than VP. That seems to be the case with my stays at the Cosmo.

UGh -I had a bunch of stuff typed and poof it is gone WTH?

    Day 4

Up early again, had coffee in our room since there are no VP bars under a Buck. We went down to the pool for awhile it was really nice in the shade, hung out reading and swimming and it was really a nice morning, they brought iced towels and cuccumbers around, I was not sure if I was suppose to eat it or put on my eyes, people were doing both.

We went back to the room to shower and then headed to Harrahs for the coffee shop on more points. Great eggs bene and my husband had blackened prime rib sandwich which he said was great. WE did not gamble there as I wasn;t feeling it. HEaded back to V , hub wanted to play BJ, me of course VP. I got on 1 of the 2 vp .25 machines and promptly lost 80$, since I had no more options and didn't want to leave I put in 20 more, with the last 1.25 I got 4 jacks and then proceeded to get on a roll of 4 3's with 2 and 4 4's twice, and a few 4oak non prem, I played for a long time and finally cashed out 470.00. I reached gold level finally and went and got my card and had earned other 40 in FP which they put on my card. Went to find husband who was exactly even after a up and down ride.

We left for the Blue man group show which was great poncho 5th row seats, show was great, lots of fun. After the show we went to Palazzo and played Vp, I got a couple small quads but played it all back, husband hit one but it went back fast. I was straving since we had not eaten since noon , so we got take out at grand lux and went to the room. It was pretty late so we just crashed after.

    Day 5

Our last day at the V! Up early and off to the gold lounge for coffee, we hung out a little while and read the paper and had some fruit and pastries. I then used the mens restroom(I didnt know there was a womens)when I came out this little asian man was smiling and said you went to mens room,AWWW, I told him I always use mens bathrooms, I was not embarrassed until he then said as I was walking away, you have toilet paper hanging out of you pants, OMG I do, I was glad to provide the gold lounge entertainment for the morning. Just classy-We left asap. I liked it better when you get coffee and water to go in there, now they have waiters like diamond lounges.

We went to TI and played some more VP, I was hanging in but hubby was going thru 20's with no good results, so he left to play BJ and I proceeded to hit more 4oak's, which kept me playing on 60$ for a long time. Hubby lost 50 at BJ and was ready to move on. We played the hangover slot on the way out, hit a couple 2.00 bonuses and then it sucked the 20 away pretty quickly, it was entertaining. So 150 gone after 3 hours, not awful.

We walked over to Wynn since my husband has never seen it, we strolled around but did not play there, very nice. Back to V to get the car, we drove to bellagio, walked thru the conservatory, very nice and then played VP at the sports bar where we lost 300 between the 2 of us, it was dead in here and just not much fun, so we left and went to the pinball hall of fame, lot of fun and really cool old pinball machines, played around 15.00 and left.

Took the car home and went to harrahs for the buffet again, fast and decent,we still had a lot of points since I added alot playing at paris, the 200 I had before we got there I had earned on that game they had on line.

We played yet more VP at the bar tops in harrahs, I hit aces with the kicker for 500 on my 1st 20 , NICE cashed out and put in another 20, then hit 22A22
on the 3rd hand, kept going and hit 4444, then it deals me KKKK, a few hands later 22228, it was on fire, husband was like wth, you have hit all these hands and I have not got one single 4oak, I cashed out 400$. I figured I would give it one more shot with a 20, and 2nd hand is 5555, a few hands later it deals me QQQQ, it is not finished yet, 6666 dealt to me , this trip I had more 4oaks dealt to me than I have ever had, it was crazy. Hubby put thru 100 with no 4oaks! We left after that, it was so fun to have a great run like that. That will not be my last good run, more later on the last 2 days.

Thanks for the TR so far. I'm assuming your husband knows basic VP strategy? Seems like he always loses and you're winning more often than not. :confused2:

Awesome 4OK hits! Love the toilet paper story. As someone who last week had to walk from the MB to the Excalibur with a wet bum thanks to someone spilling something (I hope) on my chair before I sat in it, I can relate :)
