    My Trip Report

I wasn’t going to write a TR after this trip, my business and life, were both kicking my ass. I even took a few months off the board, till I got things caught up, but haven‘t posted anything. But after rereading one of my old ones I changed my mind. It helps me to remember what I liked, and gets me pumped up for another trip.

The trip was for our 30th anniversary. I purchased the tickets in January, during a SWA sale round trip, non-stop from Cleveland June 14 - 22. My wife had a heart attack in April, so I wasn’t sure we would make it, but we did. She needed naps on most days, and we were back in the room pretty early most nights, but we still had a blast.

Since we had an early flight, and so it would be easier on my wife. I booked a room at a Days Inn by the Cleveland Airport. (its about a 2.5 hour drive from home) It was only a little more then parking would have been. And it had wifi, continental breakfast, and transportation to and from the airport. The most expensive room of the trip, and the worst one. lol

The flight out was perfect, we even arrived a little early. Got a rental car from EZ, then hit wally world for a case of water. A coffee maker, coffee, filters and some snacks for about twenty bucks.

We then stopped and picked up a LVA coupon book, the first two nights were at the D so we parked there. But left everything in the car and went to Four Queens for breakfast, with a 2-1 coupon, then went back and checked in. This was our 4th or 5th time staying at The D, I won’t go into detail, but next time were staying somewhere else.

We spent the first day casino hopping, my wife did ok but I got spanked on everything. We had dinner at The D’s café, it was very good, but damn if I remember what we had. After eating my wife was beat, so we called it a night at about 9pm

Saturday morning we played at Four Queens a bit, then hit Ellis island for breakfast and a little gambling. Again I just lost, we then drove out to Mt. Charleston but only stopped at a few overlooks. Back at the D my wife napped and I played some BJ, lasted about an hour on my buy in. We ate at the D café again, Both meals here, were covered by comps or points can’t remember which.

We then hit El Cortez, we both had free play, and I think $10 from a coupon. I lost my free play on VP, then lost $100 on craps, but did get to play a long time. My wife did great on her free play, if I remember right we left up slightly.

We stopped at Fremont and my wife hit WOF for $150 or so, I lost. On to the Plaza and LVC to use free play coupons. I lost at the Plaza but my wife won maybe $25 at LVC, but it still stinks in there so we headed to MSS.

I lost a couple hundred on VP, with only one quad… ouch. We headed to the Cal, I tried craps again, had a blast but lost. We wandered back and rubbed the Buddha, and damn if it didn’t work. I got on a triple play nickels, played for 2-3 hours, hit my first royal, cashed out $275 on $20 in. Plus had great drink service Till my wife wore out, but I think she had won also. We both really liked playing here, its most likely where we’ll stay downtown next trip.

Sunday morning we played at Four Queens, I think we both had free play or coupons. I did ok at JOB but lost in the end, if I remember right my wife won on money storm. And Four Queens liked my VP play this trip, I just received a mailer for a couple free nights and some free play. Then breakfast at Magnolias with another 2-1 coupon. We played our free play at The D and checked out. After almost no play there, I was surprised when we got mailers, with 2-1 rooms $20 food and $20 free play. I kinda figured they would shut us off.

The next two nights were in a Mirage suite from myvegas, not use to the huge line at checkin but it went fast. Long walk to the room.

    but it was worth it.

Played a bit then relaxed in the room till we went to Excalibur steak house, to use another myvegas reward. Food was great, service was terrible, they did give us a bottle of wine and dessert to go, so the whole $150 reward was used. A little more gambling, then another early night in the room.
Monday we played some, went thru the Secret Garden, another myvegas reward. It was nice, but way to hot.

We found some machines by Carnegie Deli that we both won a little on, then had lunch. We split a sandwich and fries, and still only ate half of it. They gave us more bread, so we had sandwiches for later.

After long naps and relaxing in the room, we went to Beatles Love, another myvegas reward. Friends were suppose to come this trip, but cancelled last minute due to their son breaking his ankle. He decided to walk the few blocks home from a bar, rather then drive, and tripped on the sidewalk. I had redeemed 4 tickets and decided I would give the other two away.

When we first arrived at Mirage, and were walking across from the parking garage with our luggage, a young guy waited and held the door for us. Turns out he is a UNLV grad student living in Vegas with his fiancée, and his parents were visiting and staying there. So I offered the tickets to him, I think at first he was waiting for the time share spiel. But after talking to him and his parents a minute, we made plans to meet the next day. He ended up cancelling, something about his golden retriever pup eating a tennis ball, and his fiancée wanting to go to the vet. But anyway, I went down to give the tickets away again, and a guy walks up and asks me if I’m selling love tickets…ahhhh ya ended up with $100 We both loved the show, and had a little more money to lose.

After the show we watched the volcano, then tramed over to TI, New members get $20 free play after earning 50 points, I think. My wife did great on penny slots, I played JOB, Got my 50 pts. And won $60-70 on $20 in, before my wife came back with about $200 in titos. Wanting to go get our free play.

Drink service was pretty good, and we were both doing ok, so we stayed there pretty late. Then it was back to the room for leftover sandwiches and dessert.

Tuesday we slept in, and just lounged in the room till almost 11am. After checking out, we parked at the Trop and walked over to MGM to play Lions Share. I think we lost about a hundred each, before heading to the Trop where I lost a little on VP, but my wife won $3-400 on slots.

We stopped for lunch at In & Out, then checked in at Silverton’s for three nights. This is my wife’s favorite casino in Vegas, This was our actual anniversary, we could have stayed at the Mirage suite, and had the steakhouse diner this day. But my wife wanted In & Out for lunch, Silverton’s buffet for dinner and too stay there that night. I was trying to get a suite at check in with a $20, but it was a firm no. Upgrade was only $100 per night, since the regular room was free I was going for it. But she stopped me, said she would rather have the $300 to gamble on.

The trip caught up to my wife here, so I really wish I had gotten the suite. She spent way more time in the room then gambling, but we still had a great time. I got spanked pretty hard here, I could barely win on anything. But my wife played a lot on very little money.

I probably lost 5X what she did, but most of that on VP, BJ and craps. Yet when we got our winter offers, she got any 3 nights including weekends free, plus free play, and food comp. For Oct, Nov. and Dec. Good every month. And I got mostly reduced price nights with a few select dates free, and a little free play.

Her offers are always better then mine, and I generally lose more. LOL She plays mostly penny slots, never puts in more then a five, rarely bets max and cash’s out anything over twenty, sometimes less and puts another five in.

The only time we left Silverton in three days was Thursday, we used the myvegas Bellagio buffet reward. We both enjoyed it, then hit the conservatory. First time there, my wife loved it so we will be back.

Friday was our last full day, and another move. The Daisy electric music festival started that day, so most places were either sold out or expensive. So I booked a cheap room at Fremont.

At check in I asked for a quiet room on the north side, the room was great. A little old but very clean, and it had a frig, coffee maker, two TV’s and wasn’t tiny like I had read. I found out at check out, they had up graded us to a mini suite….sweet.

After getting settled we headed down to play, first machine my wife plays, gives her 2-3 bonus’s so she was up a few hundred, then she hit the same WOF machine that she hit earlier in the trip. I lost a little on VP so I played a Texas Tea (I think it was called) and won 250ish if I remember right.

After a nap, we decided to burn some of our winnings thru a dollar quick hits machine. We played together on one machine, at two bucks a spin we got a couple hours play out of $400 No big hit but lots of fun, and the CW will bring two drinks at a time when you play like that. Lol

We used the LVA 2-1 coupon and points for the buffet, so it was free. It was good, but like someone else posted the snow crabs suck, way to much work for a little crab. We spent the rest of the night at the Cal, no big hits, but a lot of play for a few hundred.

Saturday we were up early, I had a little luck on VP so I played some BJ. Up till this session, I had lost every time I played BJ this trip. I was on a five dollar table by myself, and almost couldn’t lose, in no time I was playing $25 a hand and up about $400. But then the table filled, and I was back to $5 so I wouldn’t give my winnings back. A old Hawaiian guy bought in for $500, and commenced to lose almost every hand at $50 per. He went another $500 and it seemed to get worse. I decided to bail while I was still up.

We checked out, and gave the coffee maker and the rest of our water to the valet, I figured the maids get stuff all the time, might as well spread it out. Lol

We stopped at the Silverton, and had a late breakfast using points on my wife’s card. Their Chicken fried steak with country throw up gravy, was the best I’ve had in Vegas. Played for a couple hours then returned the car and headed to the airport. Our flight out was about an hour late leaving, then it took forever to get our bags, so we were pretty late getting home.

We had a great trip, the weather was super hot, the week before and after. But mostly hi 90’s while we were there. Total cost all in, was just under $3300 including gambling. The my Vegas game really paid off, well worth our time playing. We most likely will make it out in November or December, we could fly US Airways standby (my son works there) but I was hoping to get some cheap SWA non stops. If anyone made it thru this thanks for reading.

Enjoyed your report - thanks for writing. I'm sure your wife was happy about the trip even though she had to take naps now and then. -- Lorna
