    My Trip Report

My girlfriend and I decided it was about time to have a girls’ weekend [IMG] , since we have known each other since high school 20 years ago, and we have never gone on a trip together. Been too busy w/husbands and babies. So she happened to have a break from her kids, my husband could take care of our daughter, so I said, “Let’s go to Las Vegas!†and she said, “Way Cool!â€. So we left Austin July 12, flying American, and the first lesson we learned (first of many on this trip) is to take an early flight next time. Our flight, scheduled for 11:25am was delayed incoming. So we sat at the airport bar and started drinking and catching up. Cape Cod for me, beer for her. 2 drinks later we decide we’d better slow down or we’d be no good later. Flight finally took off, we missed our connection in Dallas, got to LV about 2 hours later than planned and crashing from the drinks we had earlier. We checked in at Harrah’s, did the $20 trick and the clerk SAIDwas giving us the biggest room they had besides a suite, but it sure looked like a regular room to me  . Note to self-don’t bother with it next time. We weren’t in the room that much. We went downstairs to the sports book to eat (cheaper than the $17 dinner buffet). They had good burgers and fries and we started our drinking again. Played some slots after that, lost, then went to Caesar’s to look around. Very nice, high ceilings (very good for not smelling the smoke so much), lost a little on Elvira slots, watched a little craps but didn’t jump in. Then we went back to the room to change for that evening. We were thinking of Chippendale’s but since we were a little slow to part w/money we decided on the Improv at our hotel. That was ok, but the waitress didn’t come around to our table until about 45 minutes into the show. NOT GOOD! Losing the buzz! [IMG] The comics were ok, but not really funny like I had hoped. After that we went to the bar, got some drinks, watched a lot of people having a good time on Saturday night. Amazed at the parents who think it’s ok to keep their very little children out that late at night. What are they thinking? Played some nickel slots, but when I cashed out I didn’t really realize how much $35 in nickels was – and it kept going, and going, and going. We were VERY tired and decided Sunday night would be our big drinking night. So we went to bed about 2am, woke up about 6am. Shoot! Thought I’d get more sleep, but my body clock said otherwise. Got up, showered, drove to a Denny’s downtown for breakfast. Then to a Walgreen’s to stock up on snacks/water. We headed back to the strip and checked out New York, New York and liked that a lot. Nice high ceilings, lots of great shops. We saw a guy in the magician shop doing a trick making a card float-very neat. Made $8.25 from the free $5 slot play I got for joining slot club. Then my friend persuaded me to go on the roller coaster there-and I do not do well on roller coasters. But she said she pay for my ticket and dragged me there. Going up the first hill I started panicking and was screaming at her that she’d have to just stand there while I played blackjack for hours (she doesn’t gamble) since I was doing this. Had my eyes closed most of the time. Got off that nightmare-not much padding in the headrests and your head gets bopped pretty good. Then is was time to go to the Gold Coast for free craps lesson. That was pretty decent. We went back to Harrah’s and my friend set up a spa appt. while I went next door to Imperial Palace for bj and craps. Bought in for $90 at bj, won, lost, lost a bit more, then decided to do craps. That was better. Won back what I had lost at bj and came out ahead $14. :D Went back to the room, we got ready to go to dinner and then Paris for lots of drinks before seeing Dennis Miller. We ate the dinner buffet at Imperial Palace-decent. Best part was it had a lot of food my friend could eat (she has tons of food allergies), so we filled ourselves up and headed to Paris. So pretty there with the cobblestone floor and the ceiling painted like the sky. We sat at the round bar by the casino and proceeded to make friends with the bartender and have lots of drinks. I switched between pina coladas and lemon drops, my friend had beer. Best part is the bartender liked talking to us and was charging us for only half the drinks we had. Boy did he get good tips. Time for Dennis Miller! Had great seats and he was wonderful to see in person. Laughed almost through the whole show. The warmup act was excellent too. After that we went back to the bar, had more drinks from our new friend, then finally felt like playing craps. But it was not my night and I lost $100 w/in 30 minutes. But the stick man and other guys were a lot of fun to joke with, made it more fun than it could have been. Made our way back to the room at 2am and woke up again at 6am! What’s wrong with us? I don’t know why we couldn’t sleep longer. I woke up, still felt a little drunk, didn’t even bother to take a shower before going down to the breakfast buffet. After, I played some roulette while my friend shopped. Came out $25 ahead. Went to Disney to pick up something for my daughter, then we headed to Gold Coast as I forgot to cash in $10 in chips. Sat down at the roulette table there and lost $40, then headed to bj , bought in for $70 and had a great streak, coming out up $120. [IMG] I would have stayed longer (gotta respect the streak), but we had to haul ass to the airport. All in all a good trip-I learned a lot and would do things differently next time, but enjoyed it.

Great Trip Report!! I especially liked this info, as I *love* roller coasters (hence my screenname here)... but I am NOT looking forward to Manhattan Express. In the roller coaster crazy world, that one is a poor excuse for scrap metal ;)

But... I'll still go on it, just to say I have (Once!)

Thanks for taking the time to write your report.

    Good trip report!
We could not get our 15 year old on that coaster last year, so you did good by braving it!!!
I sensed that you did not play much at Harrahs or did not have luck there? It seems to be a common theme with Harrahs recently!
We had good gambling next door too at the Imperial Palace. Although, I would never stay there...

We all find things that we would do differently next time......that's why we all keep going back, right?

I agree about that rollercoaster. I love them but the one at NYNY is way too bumpy for a metal one. But you've got to try it once!

Sound like you had a good trip.
