Well it is when you are travelling from the bottom of New Zealand. I haven't been to Vegas since I was a kid of 20 and now its time I packed up the family and took them to So Cal to see a bit of the world. So the compromise is they get 10 days in LA and SD and I get 4 nights in Vegas !

Yes I will have the family with me, but I will find plenty enough time to gamble. I have joined the forum to find out a few things that I may need to do. I'm not a big gambler but I love playing Blackjack, will cash in usually with $500 and play 4-6 hour stints, unless I lose it first. I just play basic strategy and push pull betting.

I'm going to be there in a couple of weeks, staying in a 2 bed suite at the Mandalay, one question I have is should I be getting a players card or something?

Looking forward to exploring the boards, and reading a few trip reports to whet the appetite.

    Thanks
    Grant

If you're staying at Mandalay it can't hurt to just apply online for an Mlife card and just pick it up when you get there. If you charge stuff to your room or play the slots at all you might get some comps. I personally liked the breakfast buffet there. Not too busy and really good service and food. I've heard the pool is really good too!

Have a fantastic trip! It's been about 15 years for me but I visited New Zealand in 2000 and made it down to Queenstown -- gorgeous!

Hey thanks for the welcome. Queenstown is beautiful, its covered in snow at the moment and looking great. I lived there for a couple of years and now just down the road. You would have chuckled at the size of the casino there.

Welcome! And thanks for the headsup regarding the 2 bed suite at Mandalay. That is exactly what we need. Would love to see pics if you plan on taking any.

Yeah I will certainly try. You can find these rooms on you tube. The X3 suite has two beds, two bathrooms, with a kind of lounge area in the middle, and the second bedroom has two queens so perfect for our family of 4. We booked a while ago but got a great deal (well I thought it was) at about $400 USD p/night.
