LOL! Which stay were you referring to (they were both about the same length) It was still fun to try out the Cosmo though, and I had wanted to stay there since it opened. But you know that old saying, "be careful of what you wish for..."

I stayed at Cosmo for 8 nights in June and loved the room (terrace suite) and the view on the 36th floor and mostly have positive things to say about the hotel. I had no issues whatsoever with housekeeping and the service was really quick when i called for detergent or other stuff.

The drink service was also top notch, probably the best i experienced except for maybe the Wynncore. Dealers was also super friendly and nice but the comps offered by the hotel was just ridiculous bad but i don't play for comps anyway but figured it was just worth mentioning.

The restaurants in the hotel is also great. Although i had an issue with the hostess at holstein, she was superslow and made everybody wait for at least 10 minutes even though if it was half empty. One night we wanted to watch the nba finals and when seating us she refused to give us a seat by the Tv and claimed she had no server working that section right now. Wtf a half empty restaurant 30 minutes before the final and its about to get full in a little bit and she won't let us sit by the tv? Needles to say we left immediately but its a shame since there other personal at the restaurant is great as well as the food. Love the Gold standard and the drunken monkey shake.

Also never had a problem with the people being to loud in the casino or at the balcony for that mater. I can't even recall any noise at all out on the balconies, maybe i was lucky staying in the west tower facing the fountains.

The pool area was also pretty good, a little bit to small but still very nice. Spend most of my time at the blvd pool which i like the best and during the weekend it got a little bit to crowded. A good thing is that u can remove any towels and take the chairs if there is no other personal belongings on them.

Overall i think the property falls somewhere in between Wynncore and Aria with Wynn being the best out of the 3 properties. The only other hotel on the strip i think is better then the Cosmo are Wynncore and Mandarin Oriental.

From the Beginning of May to the end of April would be close to a year. I would assume the stay was from the end of April to the beginning of May?

I stayed there last weekend and I guess I got lucky. I've read the reports of horrible check-in, dirty rooms, noise, etc., but found my experience to be the exact opposite. We arrived around 4 pm, had a reserved wrap-around suite, used the $20 trick and got a strip/fountain view on the 39th floor of the East tower and a late check-out. The guy working the check-in was great. The room was very clean, but some of the furniture was a little scratched up. The only minor complaints I have are that you can see where people use their foot on the outside of the door to hold it open, there are some scuffs there. Also, the elevator key-card swipe was a little wonky, and the light in the ice-machine room was out. Everything else about our stay there was awesome. We are not the party-hard crowd, but liked the young vibe of the property. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I did notice one room on my floor being cleaned when I went to the ice-machine. They were using a large ozone sanitizing thing. It might be standard at other hotels, but I never saw that before.

Isn't that sort of like the ofd "1st Prize, One week in Philadelphia. 2nd Prize, two weeks in Philadelphia." joke?

I haven't stayed there, but they do pride themselves on being different... I had a love affair with it when it opened, but lately, I'm just not that excited anymore, I like Vegas because it's Vegas, and they don't wanna be Vegas. Also my stay at PH was ruined by their noise, so that kinda made me dislike them even more.

Kinda funny to me that it would be all messed up already, but it's probably groups of people my age cramming like 8 people into a 1 bedroom, because it's the cool place to be. (I actually had a friend tell me he slept on the balcony once haha). There really is no excuse for shotty housekeeping, with the job market as crappy as it is in Vegas they could probably find GOOD housekeepers in 5 seconds.

Didn't I read somewhere, they are losing tons of money? Maybe it's short staffed or something...

Response to an earlier poster:Cosmo is not managed by Marriott.
Marriott Corp.would not allow the place to stay the disaster it has become if it managed the property.

Cosmo uses Marriott's reservation system to increase exposure and pays them for it.

To be honest, I don't get the bad reviews at all - or I've been extremely lucky.

I stayed 4 nights in August 2010, and just returned from 4 nights last week and had amazing stays both times. I had reserved a City room both times and was upgraded to a 1BR Premium Terrace in the East Tower both times via a tip to the front desk clerk.

Housekeeping has been great with and without tip, and the rooms were in great condition on both stays. In fact, we had two rooms booked on our most recent trip and both had a great stay.

My only complaint would be the AC doesn't always cool the room down perfect. Having it cranked at all times and the room doesn't get under 70-71. This is in the middle of summer, but I would have liked it a bit colder.

Another thing regarding service, this last trip both parties in separate rooms had propped the door open to get ice at separate times the same night and security responded to the floor to verify the room was secure. This was very prompt and unexpected.

Just giving an honest review of a property I thoroughly enjoy - and prefer over Bellagio and Wynn. (have stayed at all three)

I've stayed at all of the high end strip casinos besides V/P, and Cosmo is my second favorite (Wynn / Encore still my favorite).

I stayed on a comp offer, you have good dealers and great CW service (except at the machines) and I really enjoyed my room and balcony. My room was very clean and comfortable. I got great service the entire trip. Their website is bad and they installed auto shufflers (some continuous) which I do not like.

This hotel is one of two (Caesars the other) which gets the widest range of opinions on both sides (Love and Hate).

    Screwball,

I was looking at some posts on another Vegas forum (Heaven forbid!!) and came upon this concerning hotel A/C:

I too was in LV over the 4th. A comment about the room. I stayed at the Mirage and call the building engineer up to my room because it was extremely warm. This is what he told me after he changed the clogged filter.

Do not put your individual thermostat on auto, put it on fan. Always run the temp. to the lowest level ~ 55 deg. F because a sensor in the thermostat will not cool below 69 deg. until it is on the lowest setting.

One other thing, the door has a sensor on the dead bolt lock that talks to the air control. After 4 hours, If the dead bolt is not in the lock position, the thermostat automatically sets the room temperature to 72 deg. F. Normally I would set my dead bolt at night and the room temp. was ok. But when I left the room for more than 4 hours (almost daily) the thermostat went to 72 degrees.

Isn't that interesting? I'm going to assume that the rooms at the Cosmo have sensors in the doors, too. Especially after reading your comment on security and the doors that were propped open.

    So now we know.

Just imagine the amount of energy and expense this saves if it is true of all properties.

I have stayed at the Cosmopolitan 6 times (about 5 - 6 days each trip) since 2011. I have never had any problems with housekeeping, noise or check in/check out. Positive experience with housekeeping on timely response to requests such as additional towels and amenities. Check in / out through VIP has been very easy and quick without any problem. The only problem i have with them is the Identity club benefits which have been significantly reduced vs when they first opened but then it seems like they have been sending out many offers lately.

    Cosmo

Lump me in the "lucky" category as far as having an amazing experience at the Cosmo. Clean room, enthusiastic dealers, housekeeping, all great. The only problems were the ridiculously high limits at the EMPTY tables and then the D bags that come out of marquee around 2am. Other than that Id stay there again (if comped of course)

Marriott could be acting in a fulfillment capacity. But the point is it's doubtful the day to day operations are being run by bankers.

The property is definitely bank owned (Deutsche Bank I believe) but whether or not they hired someone to run it (Marriott?) or not I wouldn't know.

    From Marriott: http://www.marriott.com/news/detail.mi?marrArticle=464203

So as others have pointed out, Cosmo taps into Marriott's reservations and marketing while they are also supposed to meet specific standards.

It's like that joke if you don't like a 1200 sq ft room with a balcony in Las Vegas that comes with $200 in free food.
