Will be in Vegas in a week and wondering if the taxi cab strike is still going on. Usually take a taxi from the airport to our hotel. TIA!

I believe today is the second "full" day of the strike. Most reports are that it hasn't affected things much to this point.

Arrived today, an abundance of taxis at the airport. Line moved quickly. No problems. Don't know about other areas.

So how do they strike in Vegas if cabs are still available?

I think the deal is that the strike involves workers at one of the major companies (Yellow Checker), but that there's like 13 other companies that are unaffected. I also read that in preparation for this, the Taxi Cab Authority issued additional permits (medals) to the unaffected companies to "cover" for the loss of Yellow Checker cabs. Sounds like while it may be debilitating to Yellow Checker as a business, the overall service as experienced by customers isn't severely harmed.

Thanks for the replies! Didn't want to start our trip with uncertainty.
