Is it just me, or are some local Casinos getting tighter and tighter?

:bang::cuss:I have lost every single time at one of my local Casinos. I have had 5 straight losing trips and it sucks! The Comps system is dog sht too. They give you a $5 Comp after you have lost HUNDREDS in their Casino. What an insulting slap in the face! To make matters worse, I got less than $2 from the $5 Comp. What an unfunny joke! The slot choices are wonderful, but the payout and Comp systems are horrid! My other local Casino gives a good $60 every week, so that tells me all I need to know that the Casino I am talking about is stingy with their patrons!

How much of that $60 do you take home per trip? Generally, casinos are pretty good now at figuring out what you're worth, particularly if you play machines a lot. If one gives you $60 and another $2, you're playing a lot more in $60 casino.

In Wisconsin Alexander? Sounds a bit like my local casino (and affiliated casinos). They 'improved' their comp structure a year ago because the high rollers indicated they weren't getting enough. So instead of changing the higher level players they redid everything. Comps cut more than 50%. In order to get $50 freeplay a week & one free buffet a month you have to play thru $2000 worth of coin a week (evaluated every 3 months). That's WAY more than it takes to get to Diamond at CET. If you even want a free room (ONE SINGLE NIGHT) that starts at $8000 play thru per week (get 2 buffets & $100 FP a week then). (I used to get free room every month but haven't since the 'improvement'). That is 2.5x more than it takes to become 7Star. (And with CET you get daily bonuses - which makes it even worse).

If they give you $60 FP, and you take it all home, you are NOT their target customer. They are a business. They exist to make a profit.

Nostress, good point about the Casinos existing to make a profit! :) I remember someone posting something like, "I try not to spend too much of my hard earned money at Casinos because I know I am just helping the Casinos pay their electricity bill!"

For trips to the casino thats one of those things thats really hard to validate: unless each of your trips are pretty much identical, like: I go with $100 in my pocket, I stay exactly 95 minutes and during that time I play 40 cents per spin for 1000 spins...

Unless each trip is exact and specific you have to look at things like how were you playing? what were you playing? could you have left a winner? did you stay and play too long?

By that I mean: you arrive at your casino and the first machine you sit down at happens to be winning for you and about 10 minutes in to the trip you are up $150 thanks to a few nice bonus games... are you going to leave right then and call it a winning trip? or are you going to stay and play a little while longer?

The big question is: what happens if you stick around for another 3 hours and during that time you lose back the $150 plus another $50 from your wallet? Are you going to count that as yet another losing trip? Or is it technically a winning trip where you happened to stick around too long?

One thing to consider is: mathematically, because of the casino's house edge, all trips to the casino should be losing trips. Its great when you do leave a winner, but the numbers are always on their side.

I'm beginning not to like Mohegan Sun. It's just annoying that I go there and never win. Machines are super tight there but then you hear random stories of people winning hundreds of thousands. I've had so many losing trips that I just go play .25 vp and drink up a free tab by the bar. However, they're also miserly with drinks and won't serve you as much as fast as I get in AC because of CT "law."

And points resetting every 6 months is bologna!

You're probably lucky that drinks are even "free" in CT. I think you have to pay at most tribal casinos across the country. Our state law makes us pay to drink at the state-run casinos. :(

And I'm used to comp points resetting every six months which I think is the worst. CET does that and so MLife now for Sapphire. If you meant tier accumulation, that's more of a mixed bag with properties I play at, but I also think that's crappy.

As long as you earn at least one RC every six months, they will last forever. But they will expire after six months with no activity.

Ah, yes, reward credits expire. I was referring to tier credits in terms of status points.

I am guessing most people that go to local casinos are addicted gamblers.

The casinos know this and don't need to have big payouts.

I surely don't consider myself addicted, but I do two of the local casinos (Horseshoe, Ameristar) maybe once every week or so.

For what I play (mostly low-limit slots and quarter VP) I seem to win about the same percentage of sessions as I do in LV.

I do admit that in the local casinos, you do seem to see the same bunch of regulars there, just plugging away!

Drinks are free at Cypress Bayou (Chitamatcha tribe)in Louisiana but damn the service sucks. You can get a drink occasionally at a table but on a machine. Good luck. It's worse than their video poker pay tables.

Huh...I never thought about it that way...but I'm thinking about it...and that makes a LOT of sense...
A long time ago (like right when I turned 21) I had an advantage play at a local indian casino...Ride a bus up, for a 4 hour stay, collect $50 + free dinner + free set of bowling (3 games) and ride home...i did this 5 days a week, after work, for a year straight...I talked to a lot of people who gambled there, and NO ONE ever got more than $5 per week FSP, yes $5 (and these people were local as in like 15 minute drive coming 3x per WEEK!)
It never really dawned on me that, that's how these local indian casinos are setup...that the people that gamble there DON'T CARE about comps...interesting to finally realize this.

Ya know, as I think about it more, the various "local" casinos sprinkled around the country, both Native and civilian, have to be attracting gobs of folks who are totally oblivious to the climate and culture of gaming in Las Vegas. They will have no clue if a slot is loose or tight, a VP table is good or bad, that 6/5 Blackjack is poor for the player, etc, let alone the whole concept of free drinks and other more substantial comps.

Well "being smart" with the $60 has cost me my July free play! :( Taking the $60 in free play, turning it into $60 in cash and then running for the hills has made a lot of my free play stop as of July! I still get free play Monday and Thursday, but no where near what I was getting in May and June.
