I'm guessing this promotion has been cancelled as it launched on July 1 last year and we've heard nothing about in 2013. Anyone heard anything official one way or another?

After everyone took advantage of it the last couple years I doubt they'll be doing it again. I remember all the threads on here for people to mail their cards to each other in different parts of the country to log a trip and collect their points. It was so easy to scam. I know this board wasnt the only one to be doing this. It had to have costs them a ton of cash, and since these "players" never actually played beyond the min threshold to get credit, CET got screwed.

Agreed. If I were the marketing people who created that promotion, I would be kicking myself in the rear-end right now.

I was surprised that it came back a second year. Way too many people who gamed the system.

As for the true gamblers, this promotion was not really worth it. You have to go to other destinations, paying your way there and probably would lose a lot more money than what you would have gotten out of it in terms of comps.

Heck, if you have a host who is good, what you would have earned in total reward credits could have been taken off by the host anyhow.

I would be really, really surprised if it resurfaces. The promotion did not achieve it's goal of encouraging players to try other CET destinations. Rather, its loophole cost CET a ton of money.

I live in CLE and supposedly the Horseshoe is supposed to announce some type of huge promotion today around 5:30pm They are having a big post-4th party as we speak leading up to the "announcement." Might just be local but we shall see.

There's no race to the rewards this year, probably for the reasons stated above, along with others, I'm sure.

I actually really liked this promo, as since I don't play enough to get my room bills wiped clean. It's nice to have some spending money for dinner, shows, etc. The first year of RttR, I won $150 gambling, which covered a motel and gas. Plus I got about $450 in RC's to use. Last year, I didn't do so well, spend about $500 for $750 in credits.

The way I look at it, it gave me an incentive to roadtrip with friends, do some gambling, get offers for other locations, and even in the case where the RC's basically cancelled out what I spent, I think of it as I just put money in the coffee can last summer, and now I get to use it this summer in Vegas.

I also read those posts from all the Vegas Boards
Maybe people didn't realize they were only to use their own player card?
It's a shame to lose The Great Race, but I never participated anyway.
Hope they come up with something new that benefits me :peace:

there doing things like millionaire maker now instead. grid is right people who did the great race were mostly swapping cards and not actually going to other casinos. it was not a big enough reason for people to make a trip to different casinos around the country, too much time and expense required.

The website game introducing the new TR logo coupled with the Race to Rewards generated a lot of 2012 business, at least from my end, and I was happy to cash in a lot of comps.

I had a mini road trip (Metropolis, Tunica), a free AC trip (free except for Federal and State taxes :grrr: ) from the online game (used to play at the Philadelphia Chester Race Track and of course AC) and my trips in Nevada (Las Vegas/Laughlin and Reno) locked up $750 in race comps.

While some people did take advantage of the system the first year (with 1 point requirement), I do not think they were a substantial problem the second year with a 25 point earning requirement at each location. I ended up losing $65 net total for all combined trips (CET related and not) in 2012 including the race, played significant coin/table play (even earned Platinum in a day in AC), and had a great time doing it.

This year, I have no trips planned for any Harrah's casino beyond my one Vegas trip planned, and I'm not sure how much I'll play beyond live poker and maybe $1 BP. If they had the Race this year, I would likely participate again and gamble a lot more at their properties. Last year, I gambled at least 40 days, with the most substantial coin in at CET properties. This year, I have scheduled up to 13 days (may take a side trip in Vegas) and a majority of gambling will not be played at CET properties.

The main reason they did not offer the Great Race in 2013 is due to the fact that they shifted their marketing efforts toward "Millionaire Making", be it via their 2013 corporate promotion, their 6 card royal straight flush table promotion (on one of their carny games) or their poker room mega bad beat jackpot promotion. I guess they figure on getting more people "wee wee'd up" shooting for a big win vs. doling out numerous smaller wins and keeping people in the game longer.

I don't buy that people sending their cards to others was in any way significant in the cancellation of the Race to Rewards. It would have been so simple to require registration at the TR desk at each hotel rather than kiosk swiping if they had wanted to continue the promotion this year
