Is going to Suncoast worth it for 5x points?

I am staying completely downtown this trip (shocking!!!) and was considering taking the WAX out to Suncoast to take advantage of the 5x points coupon from ACG. Is this worth spending the time to go out there? That is the only coupon I'd use out there and only would play 2-3 hours of VP.

    Thanks for any insight! :)

If you've not been before, it's an alright joint I guess. The coupon gives you a solid reason to go and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I haven't been there yet, but a 5X point multiplier with 9/6 Boner Poker Deluxe at the bar would be a pretty big incentive for me to go.

Thanks for the information! It looks to only be about 20 minutes on the WAX from downtown, so I think I will spend a few hours out there. I'm staying at MSS part of my trip, so the extra points will be an added bonus! :)

Suncoast is a nice place, set up alot like Orleans. I think ACG also has 2-1 buffet coupons you could use there, which is a pretty decent buffet. Every VP imaginable, and $5 tables and 50cent roulette it's pretty laid back. With 5x points, what's not to like about a trip there?

I did almost this exact thing earlier this summer thanks to tringlomane's advice (although I stayed at The Cal, not MSS).

The WAX picks you up on 4th @ Carson (right across the street from The D) and in about 25 minutes the WAX arrives in the parking lot of the Suncoast.

Just stop by the player's club and give them your ACG coupon, and you'll be set to go.

The bartenders are attentive, and they have Sierra Nevada on tap. Which is great if you're a (beer) drinker. :drunk:

I have since gone back to the Suncoast from downtown via the WAX, and will be making the trek again next weekend.

i went once because I had some free buffets. At that time they did not have
.25 job. The points give you a reason to check out another hotel/casino, I was not impressed but I had a long trek from the LVH - 2 buses. I waited a long time for the Wax in returning. I did not know about the Sierra nevada beer. They had a movie house with cheap matinee's. Hope you enjoy it.

My husband and I took the WAX to Suncoast in July and spent about 3 hours there. My husband played $1 VP using my spare card while I played quarter VP with my card (and a little bit of $10 BJ).

I just received an offer of 3 free nights with $100 per day free slot play and $100 per day free food. I think that's pretty good for the minimal amount of time we spent there using one player's card.

We went on a regular day but they do offer point multipliers on certain days. For instance in Sept. you can get 7x points with VP on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Here's one more Suncoast endorsement. I was there Sunday a week ago, which is probably my 15th or 16th consecutive visit. Obviously, I like the place, and it's my favorite hotel among all seven Boyd/Coast Vegas properties. The WAX makes coming and going very easy, and I'll be back there again next month.

When we lived in Vegas, after MSS, Suncoast was our favorite place to play. Great bartenders at the bar next to the crap tables!

No JOB on the bar machines. TITO for any jackpot under $1,199!
    Bonus is 8/5
    Db is 9/7
    DDB is 9/6

    MSS has 9/6 JOB
    7/5 BP
    9/7 DB
DDB is 9/5, but across at the Cal, they also have 9/6 DDB.

All of these reference the bartops, since I never play on the casino floor.

From your picture, I know this doesn't apply, but 60+ on the WAX is only a buck.

Just wondering which casino is your Boyd "home" casino? btw, I think that is a great offer, but it might just be the teaser. My wife and I play the same way on my card, but the best I've ever received is $150 one time only FP at MSS. Now it is usually $75 or $100, but not per day-total and I'm Emerald! We do get full RFB, but I'd like to see $100 per day in FP.

I took the WAX out there in March, played $1 VP for 3 hours. My offers from Suncoast on B Connected are two free nights every month through the end of the year & 40% discount on food.

That is great info on bartops on Suncoast! I only play JoB because I like to drink a fair amount and make way too many mistakes when I switch around games.

I just read yesterday though, that I could use JoB strategy on BP and not lose much, if any, return! Best thing I had read in a long time! :)

I wondered if it was a teaser offer too Joe because it's such a good one. I guess my home Boyd casino would be MSS although we don't play there much, maybe an hour or two per trip (and we each use our own cards there). We are both at the lowest card level there so this offer is really over the top for me.

This latest offer can be used twice. It's 3 nights, $100 per day food and $100 per day free play...for November and then again for December! The free play is either for slots or a one time free bet at the tables, meaning that if used at the tables, it must be used as a single $100 bet. Fun!!

I think we'll double book on our next stay downtown and then spend one night at Suncoast so we'll at least be able to use day 1 and day 2 of the offer. The fine print says you cannot use day 1 and 3 if you did not redeem day 2. Anyhow, if things are going really well, we can either stay for another night and use the day 3 offer or take the bus back out to use it.

It's probably a once in a life time teaser but it's generous enough to get us out there for sure!

Edit: Hubby just told me that we were playing on a 2x points day. Wonder what the offer would have been on a 7x day? I can only dream!

You're better off playing 9/6 Bonus Poker Deluxe on the bartops; although, the swings are rougher because of the 2 pair paying 1 for 1 and all quads becoming 80 for 1. Playing strictly 9/6 JoB strategy only costs you 0.03% and the game pays 99.64% max to start with. Here is a post I made a few months ago to close the strategy gaps.

I stayed at MSS for 3 days back in August and went out to The Suncoast early one morning (9am or so) on the WAX.

My primary purpose was the 7X point day. It went OK... Here's what happened:

    1) I arrived and asked about 7X eligibility on video poker and was told, yes, video poker applies-- even bartops.

    2) I am primarily a quarter VP player. The Suncoast has no 9/6 JoB machines at that level, but does have 9/6 BDlx machines-- which is "even better" 99.64% (vs. 99.54% JoB) if you know proper strategy, but these machines are much more volatile... meaning, you really need to get quads as frequently as possible to do well. Every quad at quarter 9/6 BDlx is 400 credits, a $100 win... but every 2 pair is even money (a push), not 2:1 as it is in JoB.

    3) I played for maybe three hours at the bar. I accumulated 1,812 points on my card and decided to stop ("War of 1812"). I lost about $60.

    4) The bartenders were very attentive and my glass was never empty for more than 2 or 3 minutes, at most. They have Sierra Nevada on tap, which I liked and drank.

    5) I had mistakenly thought that the 1,812 points would be multiplied by 5 for my card score. Nope. Just slot points.

    6) Still, that's over 9,000 points. Not bad.

    7) But unexpectedly, I used one of those kiosks to check your points and went to Promotions and was offered a free buffet... Without any sort of point deduction. I'm not sure why, but I ate for free there, too. At the time, I was Ruby but later on in the trip (two days later), I made it to Sapphire.

So, it was mostly a successful trip. No royal for me, but a few quads and I didn't lose too much.

Hope this helps. If you're truly a JoB player, BDlx is very close in strategy... one major difference is you'll actually want to draw to inside straights. The Wizard of Odds site has some other pointers, too.

And, if you are looking for some cheap entertainment, they have video poker crack - Multistrike STP!

It's part video poker, part slot machine.

    And oh, so much fun!

We played for HOURS at the penny level, but you could also play 2 cents, nickel and quarter (and maybe even higher) on the same game. I don't know what the pay schedules were, sorry. But it was a whole lot of fun!

Their Willy Wonka and Family Guy slot machines were pretty generous too.

We really like their breakfast and dinner buffet - especially breakfast. I'm wishing I could go there tomorrow for breakfast!

I hope you have a great time (and much good luck!) there.

    Cheers,
    Kelly

I was planning on doing the same thing on my trip (including the ACG coupon), thanks for all the info!
