Walking through Paris, I noticed they do not offer $1 million for the 6-card Royal of Diamonds anymore. Just $100,000.

It is like this at every table with the 6 card bet.

Paris is the only casino that appears to have done this. Every other one still has the $1 million available.

But is this a preview of things to come?

How many times have they paid that out?

I remember Hunter talking about it when the dude hit it at PH but haven't read about it other than that.

Looks like they eliminated the diamonds only to win which means it would hit 4 times as often. But then the payout should be $250,000 so the players take another hit on "favorable" payouts.

actually other suits were always $100,000. Looks like they are just eliminating the big bump for diamonds. I noticed it at ballys too when I was there a couple of weeks ago

Horseshoe Hammond have been 100k for sometime now. I thought the $1m was a vegas only thing but maybe it is trending that way

Wasn't the $100,000 6-card side bet an old structure? I thought they were converting to the million bonus. I guess they didn't like paying out the bucks even though they are making ungodly amounts of money on it.

I actually really enjoy the 6 card bonus game and have had quite a bit of luck on it with 3 card and 4 card poker. hopefully it's still around in July when I'm in town.

When I met up with Hunter in March, he was telling me how little that guy who won the $1 million tipped. I want to say the dealer got $100? Maybe I'm wrong but that seems right

It's because Harrah's is both smart and somewhat evil. The psychological difference between $100,000 and $1 million for a moonshot type-bet isn't that great. People see it and say "that's a big prize" regardless of which prize is listed. So play won't decrease that much, but Harrah's will now have a 1,000% increase in earnings on that bet. While it sucks for players, it's the kind of move casino managers love - a difference few will care about that dramatically increases earnings. A similar and more common example of this is 6:5 blackjack - people justify playing it by saying "I don't get blackjacks that often anyway," not realizing (or at least not caring) that it quadruples the house edge.

It's $100,000 at Bally's as well. PH is still $1 million.

I'd never want to be your dealer. Don't forget that tips are generally pooled over all dealers working on a day. A good estimate might be 300 dealers work in a day. So the dealer that dealt the $1 million hand, got about $0.33 from that.

I think you misinterpreted the comment. cjohnson202 didn't say that he won it and tipped $100 or that he agreed with it. In fact he mentioned it because of how small a tip it was.

Funny how dealers always say "sorry, I'm just the messenger" when they give you bad cards yet expect a huge tip when they give you a good card despite still being "just the messenger."

The tip may have been bigger if that dealer received the tip. Why should a player have to tip a dealer at another table that is just shuffling cards and talking to the dealer next to him that is not dealing either. I assume the tips are pooled because of security or lack of trust of the casinos dealers, that is not our problem.

No. It was one million for diamonds in tunica last time I looked (looked in January because a VMBer said Biloxi went to 100k). But given reports of it changing in Vegas now, I expect tunica to be 100k now as well.

CET also ran bad with the million dollar payout. It hit quite a bit early on iirc. Twice in AC in its first 3 months of existence.

It really annoys me when casinos are afraid to gamble though. The million dollar payout is why the edge is so damn high to begin with!
