    My Trip Report

I made a trip to Ocean Downs (MD) and Harrington (DE). This was my first visit to OD and it was okay for what it is which isn't very big and the machines were somewhat tight. It was clean and the folks were pretty nice employees and patrons. I was fortunate to win some $ on their slot dollars and after winning it was time to go to Harrington as I was staying there. Since it had been awhile that I had been there they gave me a new card and I played the quarter slots after about 10 minutes won about $60 and cashed out and then checked into the H I Express (Harrington) and then went back and played some dollar slots and won about $20.

I returned to the hotel and ran into a guy from Baltimore who told me that he use to go to AC but no more because he found it depressing and liked Harrington more that AC or Dover Downs. I told him about the NJ ballot about casinos outside of AC and he said he really understood. Imagine not going to AC and then finding a home at Harrington that surprised me. He said they treat him very well at Harrington and he gets deals on rooms lots of match plays and etc. His favorite place to go is LAS but he hadn't heard about Travel 2 Vegas and what it had to offer. Needless to say he was happy to find out about it. This was my first stay at a H I Express and I liked it. Though I like the H I Garden Inn and Comfort Inn Suites a little better. Would I stay there again yes and I have never had so many cable channels in a hotel. Though the TV was a 32" I think. Overall it was a pretty good trip.

If you aren't interested in a resort experience when you gamble, then any old place with a few slot machines will do. Some people go to Vegas and stay at the Super 8 and play at Ellis Island. More power to them. I prefer AC to any other place on the East Coast because I like a certain level of luxury and comfort as I play that I can't find in PA or DE.

Agreed! AC is an experience and I love how it's not confined to a single property. There are tons of other casinos across the U.S. but they're all isolated in their own bubbles. They definitely need to amp up the beach bars this summer!!!

I guess you can see the good and bad in any surrounding. But I've been approached by panhandlers more in Baltimore than in AC. I like to hop between properties in AC, walk along the boards, the greater selection of bars and restaurants, and the overall vibe that's not present in local casinos.

But if you want something closer to Baltimore with free parking and a cheap buffet, looks like Harrington fits the bill.
