Bartender last trip told me that the naming rights on Imperial Palace run out sometime this summer. Any word on what the new name will be? Will they stick with the oriental theme? I'd guess they would, or they'd have to redo the entire place.

Thanks for the link, but I don't think the official Harrah's blog is going to tell me what I'm asking. AFAIK, they haven't officially released the new name/brand of the resort. I was more asking if anyone had heard any rumors about what it will become, or better yet, a link to a specific story.

Everything I have read about project Link has nothing about an IP name change. As for the ACTUAL Imperial Palace, I would expect a total gutting and rebuilding.....but the same name.

If you look at the renderings of Linq from that blog, you can see that the plan includes refacing of the IP to the point that it would no longer have an Oriental look (if it ever really did).

So yeah, I think they'll re-brand and rename but have no idea what.

My best guess would be Horseshoe since they bought the name from Binions and leverage it as a brand in many non-vegas casinos. Easier than launching a brand from scratch.

Awesome! That would be cool...bringing the Horseshoe brand back. Supposedly, when Harrahs acquired Imperial Palace in 2005, they only got naming rights for a certain amount of time, and that time ends sometime this summer.

Making it the Margaritaville Hotel and Casino would be a treat.

I've had enough of the Margaritaville brand. And personally, I would rather they stick with the original plan and make Bally's the Horseshoe. Considering they are thinking about turning the buffet into a Golden Corral, whatever IP is turning into won't be suitable for the second tier national brand.

Horseshoe Las Vegas would be GOLD. It seems like an absolute no brainer, and a really great spot to move the entire WSOP too. You just know they want to get the hell out of Rio.

Actually, this makes "too much" sense. It will never happen.

Just found out Imperial Palace NEW NAME!

I have made good friends with a vip front desk lady at IP over the past 2 years and been texting her now, and got confirmation from her supervisor that IT IS CONFIRMED to be called Horseshoe! You can take that to the bank

I'm gonna call bullshit. I highly doubt the boss of the VIP lady at the IP would be given such info.

Benny must be rolling over in his grave on the mere mention alone that his beloved "Horseshoe" name would be bestowed upon the IP!

Have read this name as the new IP name around the internet for the past month. So probably true. I thought the idea sounded confusing however.

Horseshoe will be fine if it is true. As of now, CET hasnt spent a lot of effort on the naming of IP. I am curious if they will start marketing the name kind of heavily now.

Personally, I thought they were going to go generic and call it something like The Linq Hotel and Casino.

The other brand that CET has sitting out there underutilized is the Showboat Hotel and Casino.

I am glad they are going to change it. Seems kind of strange to actually pay for the rights to call it Imperial Palace.

If they are about to start branding it now then it has been decided for a minimum of 9 months internally (there are literally thousands of factors to consider in completely rebranding a large scale hotel and resort). Some people at CET have know all about if for at least that long but companies don't tend to tell the public what happens in marketing meetings.
