I am going to Vegas next Friday and was thinking about taking a break from gambling one afternoon and going to see the new Avengers movie. Of course I would prefer to see it in an IMAX theater and I have been to the one at the Palms. I know the theater at the Red Rock Casino has an IMAX theater but I have not been to it and I do not know of another one in Las Vegas. What I would like to know is if anyone has been to another IMAX within the city and if they have what their opinion was of the theater. I would like to try a new one this time.

There are (3) IMAX Theaters in Las Vegas.

    The Palms
    Red Rock, and
Regal Aliante Stadium 16 & IMAX
    7300 Aliante Parkway
    Las Vegas, NV 89084

The Palms has the only true IMAX theater in Las Vegas (or Nevada) for that matter, that is a true 70mm IMAX Theater. Read this article for a description of the difference between regular IMAX and true 70mm IMAX.

Of course, if you just want to go to a different theater, then I've given you the 3 in the Las Vegas area.

I hate the minimax theatres. For a better comparison, just check out this image (lifted from dslreports.com), which shows the difference between the true IMAX screen on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and the faux-"IMAX" screen they have at one of the Times Square theatres.

Thanks for the info. Interesting article. Looks like I'll be going to The Palms.

This thread made me think of the one at Luxor. Yelp says it's closed now. Did they put something in that space or what happened to it? I saw "Michael Jordan: To the Max" there once (not really by free will; on a business trip and highly encouraged by a boss).

P.S. Not that I wasn't interested, but there are better ways to spend my time in Vegas.

I thought Cirque retrofitted the IMAX space into the Believe theatre...
