I attended a retirement party for just about my all time favorite working buddy. We accomplished soooo much while we worked together. It was always fun, productive and real. Get 'Er Done and Can Do. We worked hard and did whatever we needed to do to end up with the best we could get for the Navy.

It was so much fun working with this guy. Always a prank and a joke and a laugh to get over all of the shitty parts.

I know this sounds an awful lot like a marriage type of thing, but the two of us cared about the job and trusted each other beyond question.

I had not seen most of these people in over 3 years, since I retired. I was so filled with pride and joy at the number of handshakes and hugs and Gladtoseeyas I got. It was just so unexpected and gratifying. My buddy, during his speech, started mentioning all of the people that meant the most to him during his career and I was right there in the top 5. It just made feel damn good.

I'm just so grateful and so proud of myself for having turned my life around over the past 25 years or so.

Good luck and all of the best there is to my Work Brother.

That's so awesome you attended your buddy's retirement party! We often don't realize how much we influence those around us. I'm glad your buddy acknowledged your friendship in his speech.

I still keep in touch with a few of the guys I worked with. Sad thing is as time goes on theres less and less of them I have a photo on my desk here of me and my four closests work buddys taken 8 years ago at my home. Now two are gone and the other two are seriously ill. So enjoy good friends while you can and savor moments like the other night.

Really enjoyed reading that, and glad that you're still so close with the friends that you served with.

Was in the Navy myself, albeit only for four years, and they were the best years of my life.

When you do the right thing people will acknowledge and appreciate it.

When you conduct yourself responsibly and professionally it will be noticed.

You've done all of these things, Breeze. You have every right to be proud of yourself. Good Job!

    Now...go to Vegas!!

How awesome is it to be part of a team that can work together and solve problems without letting ego and territory get in the way. It's like rowing a boat, when everyone is pulling the same way, great things can happen. Glad that you were able to experience this and be recognized for your contribution.

It is indeed a great feeling when someone recognizes and appreciates the person you are within. It sounds like there is a lot of mutual respect there!
