    Thanks for the info and advice. I am not sure yet how much time I will have for gambling and how much time I will be spending with friends doing other stuff. So I will wait until a day or so into the trip before I start asking for a host.

    GVR is a very nice property and is much, much better for a family with young kids. There are a lot of locals, so I think that makes the dealers a bit more friendly compared to the strip.

    Other pluses not mentioned:
    Nice movie theater in the resort
    Hotel guests get to skip the big line at the nice buffet (get the crab legs)

    The rooms are also consistently nice too!

    What crab legs? GVR stopped serving them about 2 years ago.

    GVR is like the Bellagio of off strip properties. Enjoy.
