If I had a dOLLLaaaarrr, I'd be rich!

    Well, at least in Vegas.

Or better yet I'm trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.

OK, so my pre-trip report means little in a sea of--er, or should I say a tidal wave--of low-rolling trips.

Lowering BRs, extended trip lengths, cutting off amount of trips...it has been a recurring trend in recent days.

And here I thought my "cheapest ever trip" tag may be considered radical among our frugalmisters and frugalistas :evillaugh Personally loving the trend but who knows where it's headed...

Technically, I could not beat the record on VMB or probably any board, blog or site for cheapest trip ever because I turned down several comps with Fremont, Stratosphere , Hilton, Sam's Town, Luxor, Excalibur and Quad which would easily make 2 weeks or more free...only to pay out of pocket for rooms (soon to be disclosed in the report ...usual "haunts") for an average of $30/night (and Mandalay Bay is thrown in there somewhere).

In this way, I owe no corporation my money. Sure I'm probably not hurting anyone but myself but I am also helping myself by relieving some anxiety about who I "owe".

The reality is that this trip may not even beat my own personal record for cheapest trip in Vegas. It's only a minor goal to accomplish.

The true goal is to finally enjoy everything I have toiled all these years to discover. Basically I can focus on the things I love most about Vegas.

And having been there often enough and planning so much previously, I have learned how to squeeze every ounce of value out of a room, attraction, meal, shopping experience, spa, show, club, or pool while rubbing two pennies next to a fire.

Utilizing groupons, ACG coupons, myvegas, comps, goldstar, halfpriceshows, smartervegas, easyclicktravel, frequent flyer miles with SW and travelzoo, this is the journey to slay all dragons of increasingly upscale accommodations, crazy resort fees, decreasing comps and overpriced dining.

In reality, I am conquering no one...and nothing. But mentally I feel as though I am securing my inalienable rights.

I'm not actually going to test myself to see just how low I can roll. On the contrary, I am out to maximize value and fun at a GINORMOUS fraction of the cost.

I enjoy all you "rollers" out there but I have a special thing for super duper micro rolling that I have not yet conquered, so I will do a special tribute to that. Should be a nice time. Can't wait.

To this point, I am especially looking forward to nickel video blackjack and penny keno.

But hey! you might see me hit $5 slots....with $10 coin-in altogether...total. You never know how crazy I will get!

In reality, my BR is precisely the same as it has always been and technically I am going into this trip as I always do. The difference is, far less exploring, far more enjoying. I am finally here. I truly know what I like and I am going for it. Sure still to be a whirlwind of activity.

Some meetups, some shows, an all-nighter here and there, morning voyages, trying to slip into Hakkasan, maybe dance on stage with Beyonce, a party limo, a high-end spa for free :ssst:, strip walks, seedy karoake, $1 craps at Joker's Wild...aand other...stuff.

    BIG vision, one penny.

It all starts with a dream.

Sounds like fun. Looking forward to giving it a read. I also occasionally enjoy the freedom of paying for my room (and not feeling like I have to play to justify the comp.

I fed a $10 into a video BJ machine last weekend while waiting for my wife in Caesar's, in a couple minutes I had it up to 20. We were wandering around and I spotted a machine I like, Sit down and realize it's a $5 machine, crap, wife reminds me I wanted to give one a couple spins "oh yeah!" two spins later I'm up to $50. Time to cash and out and run LOL.

    Hey Sco ....
I so much enjoyed reading your descriptive words, phrases, and sentences of this pre-trip report, that I can hardly wait to read the "final" report. Not that I want to rush you along.

That's the beauty of visiting Vegas ... so much to do and see, and so many different ways to do. I admire your low-rolling ways, because that is always our modus operandi as well ... but we do tend to get too involved with the video poker. :rolleyes2:

Have a great trip !!

Been traveling for a presentation at a conference and wrapping up finals and then I am off to THE land!

@atom Thanks!! :) Hope to write soon after my return but by then classes will start back up...so it's possible it could be a bit disjointed  Same here; this is certainly "occasional"...I have shot for comps for a couple years and now they are dumping the comps, filling my box to capacity...and NOW I do not even feel like using it. Don't wanna be "held". I would take some of the comps but now they are choosing to give resort fees on some comps :grrr:

@bswim isn't it beautiful? A small risk (as small as a typical penny slot buy in) could produce a fast win on higher limit slots (just as long as one does not risk too much more than double the minimum lol). I'm glad the one day I tried a $25 slot with 1-single 25-dollar bill a few years ago (heart held in hand) , I lost. Winning sometimes is the problem lol. No allure there regardless. It was all for experience.

@buddha thanks for your comments!! :D Will try to get it done soon after the trip...with a ton of description! How you managed 7 days with costs so low for a low-rolling *couple* in your last trip is phenomenal! Just make sure you keep the reports coming :nworthy:

Is it weird that I've been packed for months, just waiting for the date?

Fully packed, excitement building, ready to hit the sky!

My boyfriend and I recently got engaged. I know I move around a crapload in Vegas, and I am worried about damaging my ring. To wear or not to wear? Should I be concerned?

A lot (not all) of the casinos will waive the resort fee on a comp. Most locals casinos, at least. Where'd you get the $25 bill? That guy Darryl on Storage Wars? :poke:

OK I decided to wear the ring. :D Thanks for your kind remarks. How was your trip lady?

No Vegas wedding, although I am quite certain I will renew vows several times in Vegas.

Congrats on your engagement. Do these 2 things and then don't worry about wearing your engagement ring; make sure it's properly insured (house or apartment insurance rider) and have a jeweller check the mount a couple times a year.
