One of my friends was talking to me about heading to LV and shes trying to figure out where to play when she goes, She has only been to vegas once before (2011) and did not gamble buy signed up for all the players cards for the little freebys.

Now this trip she wants to gamble I told her that she should stick to one property because that will give her a chance to get points and have a chance to have things like the room comped on the back end and she is torn between staying at the Cosmo or at Ceasars Palace, she wants to know what property would probably give better offers for her action (she said shes guessing 80k-120k coin in, More if luck is in her favor, less if she gets slaughtered. She only plays VP, no slots, minimal tables) as she wants to start semi-regular vegas trips.

Because she technically has a players card at both properties does that mean she wont receive any teasers after the trip that would be focysed in new players? despite the fact she has never gambled at any of the locations.

Also which of those properties would be better with comps considering her level of play? or if its really close should she just flip and coin and let fate decide?

If I read the post correctly,

If she hasn't put In ANY play at either property, her chances of getting any offers is NIL. In other words, the casinos don't even know that she exists, besides signing up for the cards.

Cosmopolitan is only one property, so if you decided to play there, that's where you're gonna have to play. MHO is that CET gives you multiple properties across the country to play.

However, that being said, it really depends on where you feel "lucky". I am CET 7* but keep V/P as my backup.

was referring to offers after she plays.

I don't think she can hit 7* at CET, but I bet she would probably be able to hit Diamond. and with Identity I'm sure she could hit Gold but not platinum.

Going from ZERO play to 100k of coin in. That is quite a jump.

With the daily bonuses, she may hit Diamond at CET on one trip.

As said, staying at any of the CET properties means she can play at any of them. I would lean that way.

I agree with nostresshere. CET is the way to go, because the offers cover 9 different casinos. Unless she's "in love" with Cosmo, I'd suggest that she find a CET casino that she likes and play there.

I agree 100% with the others, and if she does achieve "diamond in a day", or even diamond over 1 trip her future offers from CET should be pretty decent. She may also want to give MGM some of the action as even with moderate coin in she is likely to see some future offers from them as well.

Cosmo has some great VP choices though. And better paytables than CET if you know where to look. Can't speak about the comp values she'd get out of Cosmo vs. CET though. If I put as much through VP as she did, I'd be tempted to stay at Cosmo.

Also if she is a multiline dollar player, MGM properties likely aren't a bad choice either. In terms of comps I could see CET being the most generous of the three, but paytables/general room quality...bah.

I would lean toward Cosmo and their better pay tables. I am making the switch from V/P in just a few weeks. I just could not get any offers from them. I feel like if you are going to hit Identity Gold through some room charges, but also strong play, they seem to offer good value overall. + Balcony and view

Dunno how much you play, but cosmo gives you stuff playing video poker, but V/P doesn't with their god-awful paytables? V/P is even worse than CET for paytables and that's saying something!

It is funny how V/P works. I took a coworker and his wife over there for about three hours of play in March. She put a few hundred points on her card and has received offers to go back. She played the pennies. I paid for a room and food and gambled three days that trip, three more in April and two more in November. I am playing video poker but with their lousy tables, and have received ZERO. After looking at Identity program, with 100 play BP, I think I stand a chance at Gold in two trips. My plan is to play 10 cent 8/5 BP at 25 hands per deal, and shoot for 9-10k coin in per day.

If I get crappy returns I will move to bubble craps, buy the 4 and 10 for a 1.67 percent HA and drink my way to a profit!

    My thoughts exactly!
Going on tilt for comps seem to be the long term plan.
I sense a high risk of ruin.

Don't expect to get much from Cosmo playing those two machines. They have the theo set REALLY low on them. The cuts were made within the last 6 months or so.

going on tilt for comps is always a bad idea, going on tilt is always a bad idea, whenever you get pissed and raise your bet to try and regain your losses or to try and hit a big hit is a bad idea, going on tilt rarely ends well

Bubble craps at Cosmo doesn't accept players cards unfortunately.

when you say really low theo, do you mean a theo of like 0.5% to 1% (low comps but still comps) or do you mean a theo or 0%? (no comps at all)

When I think about "teaser" offers, I'm thinking about the first time you put any play on a card at a given chain.

So you can walk into any property or chain and run a hundred or two through a machine, and you will get teaser offers - they're offers that are better than what your initial play would warrant. Once you take them up on a teaser, from then on, your offers are based on your actual play.

I can't speak to whether Cosmo or CET would be better overall for a VP player. What I would recommend is that whichever place she stays at, if she likes it, she should do 99% of her play there, in order to possibly have back-end comps (and then her future offers are going to be based on that play), and then go over to the other property and spend a couple of hours, in order to get a teaser.

It's not zero, but it's definitely low.

It sounds like your friend is willing to put about $10K at risk. This might get them to Cosmo gold which does give free nights with companions. How often do they want to come to Vegas?

They might risk $5k at CET and the other $5K at Cosmo and see what happens?

I don't know percentages, but my friends WERE getting good offers playing those machines until about 6 months ago when their offers were slashed without changes in play. They still get offers, so it's not 0%, but it's low.

better pay table alone is not enough.
Cosmo is just a single casino and the so-called good table VP machines are very limited.
unless you are OK with play at the same machine for 3 days in a row (and that depends on if that machine is occupied by others).
I definitely would like to change machines/casinos if I am in a cold streak.

I think there are aches & pains with both programs.

For me? I've heard reports of Security issues at Cosmo from friends, so I haven't been there in months.
Its too bad. I was a regular & Plat. level. Not anymore......

With all the Security staff at Cosmo, WHY they don't check keycards at the elevators, like most Nicer hotels?
    I don't get it.

Its a new year & so far I've got Palz & Wynn next. May do a CET tourney next month or something.
I will get Diam again, but won't bust my hump. I'm leery with the Bankruptcy talk & waiting for
the other shoe to fall. Diamond, thats it.

I will go back to Cosmo when/IF things get better, safer. All the loud, drunk party people,
or gangsters hangin by the elevators, is Not what I go there for.

So I guess with the opinion poll the OP is asking, I am sticking with CET TR, in the near future.
