    My Trip Report

Each year I bowl the USBC Open Championships (aka "Nationals"). It was held in Vegas in 2009, and is often held in Reno.

This year, however, the tournament is being held in El Paso, TX.

As I always do, I wrote a trip report on my blog.

Bowlers in my league went to El Paso and didn't know what to do while there. They bowl every year and enjoy bowling in Reno. Unfortunately they are "cliquish" so I'm never invited. I wouldn't mind bowling in one of em (never bowled in the national stadium in Reno) but not easy finding a team to bowl with, esp for a 50 something like me.

Do you bowl league? What is your average?

I'm always looking for bowlers, all depends on the average.

    Thanks.

Quick story... in 2008 we bowled the last weekend of the tournament over the 4th of July in Albuquerque. I had a hotel somewhere, but I was just screwing around one day shortly before leaving and I went to Priceline for $35 for a 3-star or better - it was accepted at the Hyatt in downtown, walking distance from the center.

I thought for sure I could pull off that same trick over a Memorial Day weekend, but couldn't do it. We resigned ourselves to the Quality Inn for five days, when it occurred to me... Maybe Saturday was the problem and Sun-Thurs might be better. BINGO.

My son and his friends, however, weren't as impressed as they paid about $75 a night for their five nights.
