This is a take-off on Riddick Bull's thread on the slot he was playing...

I was playing Pai Gow at Aliante on Thursday morning this week and got 4-5-6- 8-9-10 of Clubs plus Jack of Hearts. If it had been the Joker instead of the Jack (or 7 of Clubs) I would have won the $124,000 Progressive for 7-card-Straight-Flush plus $16,000 on the bonus bet if it had been the 7 of Clubs rather than Joker (the Progressive still pays if you have the Joker in your hand to make the 7-card-Straight-Flush but the Bonus bet differs on how much you get; 8000-1 for the hand WITHOUT the Joker; less if you need the Joker to make the hand)...Crap. That's probably the closest I'm ever going to get to the Progressive at Pai Gow. And I only got paid for a stinkin' flush on that hand since I had the gap in the middle.. Since it was the last hand of the shift and the day shift dealers were all in the pit, the dealer called several of them over to check out this hand...he's never dealt the 7-card-Straight-Flush to anyone and I think that was the closest he'd ever dealt to a player.

Someone playing $5 on the bonus would have scored $40,000 on that one in addition to the $124,000 plus I believe anyone playing $5 would have received $5000 for the Envy Bonus on the big hit by someone else at the table. I think the casino still has a little fine print sign on the Pai Gow table saying "$25,000 aggregate table limit" on payouts...which I take to mean that they wouldn't pay out $40,000 on that bonus bet but only a total of $25,000 to be split between the winner and those at the table who would have had the $5000 Envy bonus coming to them..So if 5 other players were playing $5 on the bonus bet and had the "Envy Bonus" coming to them, it would be $65,000 that should have been paid in bonuses but the casino would only pay out $25,000 and have it split it in some manner. I'd love to see the fireworks at the table if that scenario ever happened..

So, you're saying you tied with the dealer?

so, so close. that would have been amazing!

Yeah, that's what makes the bonus / envy bet so exciting. I've hit many 5 card straight flush's and it's a nice little bonus.

I was playing Crazy 4 poker a few days ago at my local riverboat. The guy to my left was not playing the progressive bet (it was at $70K). He got dealt a 5 card straight flush (A-5h) but didn't realize what he missed, $7,000, until another player pointed it out to him. He was new to the game and did not understand the progressive system on the game and never asked about it. He was sick over the missed money.

The progressive system used at this casino has a small digital display/keyboard built into the table at each position. You can bet $1-5 on your hand, the dealers hand, or both. It is more confusing that the red light system.

My understanding ( I saw some casinos having signs explaining this) is that the Bonus and the Envy Bonus not counted in the aggregate payouts.

That hit would have been awesome.

Back in October I had the A,K,Q,10,9 of hearts, and a joker. All I needed for my 7th card was the 8 or J of Hearts. I got the 8 of clubs. I still got paid for the Royal and with $5 on the bonus it got me $750. I think the progressive was 24K or something like that.
