With my new job; apparently they give twice a year bonus's (10% total for the year).
SO...with that 5% one-time bonus check...WHY NOT GO TO VEGAS!?!
Secured a flight with Allegiant ($150 each for Round-trip out of Stockton)
We're flying out Christmas day, at 3:30pm, and flying back on Monday the 28th at 7pm.
Staying at the Rio; for FREE amazingly (apparently CET doesn't TOTALLY hate us)
We're going to go see Penn & Teller one night (since we didn't get to this last time!)
Since ALL of the MyVegas Cirque shows are BLACKED OUT; we're going to do a Tix4Tonite and see BlueMan Group (which will be at Luxor by then)
So, here's to the next 3 months of waiting!!

Yes, those twice a year bonus checks are seductive.

I plan my year around those and the ESPP distribution, which is twice a year at about the same time. . . . .

I'm gonna miss you again, TIMSPEED.

Ohh I could have made it..but when a 5% bonus comes around...and we had already made the plan for home ownership (our current lease is up in July, so we couldn't move out any sooner anyway)

Isn't that what bonuses are for??

Hope you capitalize on it big time!!

FYI, after the show, Penn and Teller come out and do a quick meet and greet and pics.

I only get a bonus once at year, with a target of 10% but also at the same time, we go through merit raises and RSUs. Usually it happens in late July, early August. I'm in year two of this job band at my employer. It adds up fast by year 5-6. Some people take the vesting amount each year out, some people sit on it for the first 5 years so they get a big jump in earnings in that year and progressive years.

I usually take my bonus and put some toward investment/retirement and then some toward vacation. This year was a cruise. Next year will likely be Vegas again.

The crazy part to me is, did you not know the bonus was 2x a year. Gotta love finding that out on a short notice! Enjoy!

With oil at $30/bbl, not sure how many bonuses there will be down here in Houston.
