The Browns or any Cleveland team for that matter can't catch a break. Brian Hoyer suffered a torn ACL in Thursday night's game. He gave a spark to a team that looked ready to tank the season after trading Trent Richardson. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's tough being a Cleveland sports fan.

Every time I think of Cleveland, I think of the movie Major League, which they actually shot in Milwaukee, but anyway, then the Randy Newman song pops into my head. Not a shot at Cleveland, just the way my mind functions, or doesn't.:peace:

    There's a red moon rising
    On the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

    There's a red moon rising
    ON the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

    There's an oil barge winding
    Down the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

    There's an oil barge winding
    Down the Cuyahoga River
Rolling into Cleveland to the lake

Cleveland city of light city of magic
Cleveland city of light you're calling me
Cleveland, even now I can remember
    'Cause the Cuyahoga River
    Goes smokin' through my dreams

Burn on, big river, burn on
Burn on, big river, burn on
Now the Lord can make you tumble
And the Lord can make you turn
And the Lord can make you overflow
But the Lord can't make you burn

Burn on, big river, burn on
Burn on, big river, burn on

A small upside is that Cleveland's wideout Josh Gordon looks pretty good. I used him for Bye week fill-in on one of my fantasy teams and he got me 14 pts (ESPN std scoring). Not bad for a fill-in.

Yeah the river that caught on fire. I hear you.

Kelly, you're right. Josh Gordon appears to have a promising future.

In the MLB playoffs, Indians were eliminated.

    Bad week for Cleveland.

Yep... tough break for Cleveland and Hoyer. I think we can ares that he wasn't the "future" of the franchise at the QB position, but did indeed provide a "spark" and a couple sorely needed wins. I sadly had Buffalo the other night and was smiling when Weeden entered the game, then he starts looking great and down goes my parlay (also had UCLA on a 2-teamer).

Being raised in Akron, I remember all too well the heartache of following Cleveland teams (Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, Crusaders, etc.) . What a great area to be from, but not if you're looking for titles... at least in the last 50 years or so.

You can't be a Cleveland fan if you can't handle pain and turmoil:grrr:

I just wish Cleveland would get an NHL team. Currently I think Minnesota has the current longest streak of cities/states that have a team in all 4 major sports since their last championship (1991 Twins)

If Cleveland got an NHL team, then we'd be off the hook.

With the way the Browns looked to start the game on Thursday, I almost left after Weeden came in. Thankfully I realized that I was not really prepared for 4 hours or so at the 'Shoe so we decided to stick around. The spark was really provided by Benjamin and the return game.

Hopefully we don't have to see Little returning any more kick-offs and Weeden tapping the ball before he releases it. The guy has absolutely no foresight and needs to see the WR open before he will deliver him the ball.

Yes it is rough being a Cleveland fan.
