I've been doing it wrong for many years. Since watching the video below, I've changed the way I do it and the monkeys are right. Am I the only one who used to do it from the other end?

I always peeled them from the stem. Then I saw a kid peel it one from the other end. Asked her why, she says, "the stem is like a handle." Convinced me and I peel 'em that way all the time now.

I don’t get it. It takes almost zero effort to do it the normal way. That guy looks like he’s squeezing the shit out of it just to get it open.

I learned this about a month ago... you don't get strings if you peel it that way... it works! In the same article, I read that breaking them all apart from the bunch allows them a longer storage life from turning brown than if you leave them all hooked-together. We don't know, cause we usually eat them fast enough that's not an issue.

I've been peeling bananas - evidently the wrong way forever. After being with my girlfriend for years without ever eating a banana in front of each other, she peels it as in the video. I said you're peeling it the wrong way. She tells me that she's peeling them the right way. I go look it up on google - and I see this video. I have to eat my words and banana. I never before saw anyone peel it that way. BTW, my GF was born in the old USSR.

Well, if monkeys do it that way it must be right. Who are better banana experts?

It makes sense too. Pulling on the stem a lot of times smooshes a lot of the banana where the stem is.

My aunt told me about this, but I continue to peel from the stem. I like having the little "popsicle stick" at the bottom to keep the banana in place. I suppose if I wanted to eat it like a monkey, I would peel it like a monkey, but I want to eat it like ME! ;)

Monkeys also eat fleas off each other and fling their own poop.... should we all be doing that too? lol
