HAHA! I'm directly on the other side of the stickman (to his left). But I flip my wrist and throw back-handed. One of my superstitions is that the cooler I look throwing the dice, the better the outcome will be. So I make sure that I throw with style. And if I know I'm going to be throwing dice I'll even wear a particular shirt and/or jacket to help facilitate this . . . And of course picking up the dice that either has a YO on top or a hard 10 (or the number I'm presently shooting for).

I mostly play poker :poker: , and will usually use a "lucky" chip as my card capper. If I have a good session in a particular seat, I will try to sit in that seat for each session. Last trip I almost always sat in the 5 seat and did pretty well.

I will also play some "sub-optimal" lucky hands from time to time. If I get lucky with them, I will raise with them next time they are dealt and try to be a "statistical variance box." :woot: Stacked a guy on back to back hands with 78o, flopped a straight the first hand vs. his flopped set. Then I flopped a set vs. his two pair on an AK7 flop.

I've historically had poor luck on video slots that have four rows, so I generally avoid them.

Not superstition, more like Skinneristic conditioning. :)

If i'm playing slots. I put a 20 in. If I don't win something by the time it gets to 10 dollars then I take the money out. I understand this is a flawed strategy since machines are complete random, but I just have this feeling that I will lose if I kept playing.

We all have our quirks, don't we?

I touch the exterior frame of the plane on all three sides of the door before entering.

Pai Gow Poker - I pick up 3 cards, 3 cards, 1 card. Always.
Double Deck Blackjack - Face down I never touch the second card. I lift it with the first.
Poker - The 3 seat or the 7 seat treat me the best. Good things my eyes work well!

    A couple of mine:

I always try to wear something red or with some shade of red in it. Usually the 1st night I wear a red golf shirt. If I dont have any red in my shirt I will put on a red baseball cap.

When playing craps, I always call off my odds and place bets for the next roll if the dice go off the table.

Golf story: Before I had kids, me and my buddy would go to Myrtle Beach for a week to golf. I was and still am a horrible golfer - usually around 100 for 18. My buddy is around high 80s low 90s. Anyway, I beat him the 1st day. So I wear the same shorts the next day and beat him again. Long story short, I beat him 7 straight days wearing the same shorts everyday.

I've heard that Chinese believe red is lucky. My wallet is red.

Yes red is lucky. Also the number 8 is good, while the number 4 is bad. Also don't touch my shoulder when I am gambling. I've had to tell my friends when I am at the table gambling without them to not come up and touch me on the shoulder to get my attention.

I am of Chinese descent, but born and raised in the Cleveland area. I follow a few of the traditions and such, but my Caucasion wife says I am whiter than she is.

    :) that's fascinating
so are the number 4 number 8 and shouder thing all Chinese lucky things?

I think I may get some of my tendency to be superstitious from my mother who was Irish and always telling ghost stories, etc.

Maybe that's why the 4-row slots don't do very well for me? :)

Wasn't there one casino (Rio maybe?) which had one entire floor or section where the number 4 did not appear anywhere, such as on phone dials, TV remotes, room numbers, etc. for the reason that it appeared to be unlucky for some high rollers?

My DH insists that 2 is a "powerful" number when playing VP. If he has a hand with no face cards or anything else worth holding and it includes a 2, he holds the 2.

I'm not superstitious at all. I actually enjoy tempting fate while gambling by breaking all the superstitious rules. When one die goes off the table on a hot roll, I deliberately don't ask for same dice if only to illicit a few horrified looks from the other end of the table. I never do anything overtly rude but I do get a kick out of seeing superstitious people squirm on my roll.

I don't mess with other peoples rolls ever, of course.

Do you set the dice to show a 7 on top before you throw 'em?

I used to rub the pilot on the head for good luck. Now it's "frowned upon". Thanks a lot, bin Laden.
