Went on Hotel Tonight app yesterday, for shits n giggles to see last nights rates in Vegas and Sunset Station popped up. Couldn't get over how nice the casino and rooms looked. Anyone go there often? That stained glass in the casino looked very nice

Was there last Wednesday. I hit it a couple times every trip.

The casino is vey nice IMO. Very friendly dealers. Good choice of machines too.

I've never stayed there so can't help you on the rooms(I believe there is a $15 per night resort fee by the way ).

I was actually thinking of staying there a few days on our next trip.

I actually think the Sunset casino is a bit dated with the fake sky ceiling and all that....but it's a comfortable place to play, they play decent music, good drink service, and quite a few playable VP machines. We like it, but we are in our 50's.

The rooms are a nice size, but again I would have to say they are pretty standard and dated. Beds are comfy and there are big windows in the room but your view is mostly surrounding retail (and nice mountains). It's quite a walk from the hotels to the casino, down a long hallway. But the actual hotel has pretty short hallways, so I guess that evens out in a way.

The pool is actually quite nice and usually pretty peaceful. Nothing special, but well-kept...

Our favorite place to eat at Sunset is Cabo, they have a good menu and a great salsa bar for your chips.

As far as Stations properties go, this is about #3 on the list.

    Red Rock
    Green Valley
    Sunset
    Santa Fe
Then you have Texas, Boulder, Palace and the Fiestas.

Not sure where you are used to staying, if I knew I could help you with a comparison....

I spent four COMP nights there in June along w my girlfriend. A little background, we are both 39, I only play VP, she plays about 3 mins of wheel of fortune the entire trip. If she loses 5 dollars she is done. We usually stay at Bally's or Flamingo. I have also stayed at Luxor, NYNY, Caesars and PH. I am on about my 15th trip.

We chose SUNSET because we wanted a relaxing vac and try life off the strip. I was a bit nervouse because I had only been there once on our way to Hoover Dam. We checked in on a Wednesday and were pleasantly surprised by our room. It was a great room with a great mountain view. The room was nicer than the standard room at any of the above properties. It was the nicest LV room I have stayed in other than a room in the Augustus Tower at CP.

The gambling was great, hit my first Royal on day 1. The food was awesome, we are not big buffet people, we tried it twice and rated it just okay. The restaurants inside are amazing. Cabo, the mexican joint is among the best mexican fare we have eaten, you can get two dinners of which we could never finish, two drinks a person and still not spend over $30. The Italian restaurant is really good and a great value as well. We spent about half on dinner and drinks as compared to strip prices.

We will def stay again next summer, we now prefer to do 4 days off strip and two days on. We loved the pool, it is a very nice pool and the drinks are way cheap. Nice mix of music, adult contemporary I think my GF called it, I couldnt put a name on it myself. The entire staff was amazingly nice. The place was clean and very safe, they have security everywhere. You have to show key to get to room elevators. I didnt think they were a long walk at all from Casino, esp not compared w the strip.

The only thing we would do different is this: We spent 5 nights at SUNSET and one night at Luxor. The first two nights at SUNSET we cabbed to the strip to see shows. We had a terrible experience w the cabbies, one got legitimately lost trying to get to HARD ROCK, I actually had to tell her the way. The other long hauled us back from T.I. Next summer we are going to do 4 or 5 nights at SUNSET and 2 or 3 on the strip and see our shows while we are on the strip. We have no need to leave SUNSET. We hang at pool all day and there was actually great entertainment on the weekend.

I cannot say enought good about the SUNSET. Feel free to ask any questions. I also posted a lengthy trip report about our June stay if you are interested.

I've stayed at Sunset many times over the years. The casino is very nice and well maintained. I never hesitate to stay there.

If your a video poker player, there is some playable stuff. Staff is very friendly and aim to please. The food very good and reasonably priced.

They have a movie theater, bowling alley, showroom and an very nice pool area. A 24-hour Walmart is across the street. I think, free shuttle to the strip, I've never used. A little something for everyone!

I've never been hit with a resort fee but I am a comped player so that's probably why.

Rooms are a good size and clean.

My kids in their 30's love the place and stop by every trip. They love the whole local environment & how laid back it is. On their trips you'll find them at Sunset, M, Silverton, Aliante & South Point but never on the strip.

    Best Regards,
    Lolly

I too am a Sunset Fan. Most everything has been covered. The pool is very nice, with the only drawback being there is no hot tub; boo!!

The food on property is pretty good, and they have a little food court. There are also some decent places just off property including a Pei Wei, and Soup Plantation/Sweet Tomatoes, Del Taco, In & Out, and a bunch more, as well as a mall across the street.

Casino seems less smoky than most too.

The other nice thing about Sunset Station is the comps seem pretty nice for us low rollers. For example, I spent 2 days there back in May, had $100/day gambling budget, current offer is for 3 nights comped in August (dang work, can't get away), was also invited to their Labor Day weekend slot/blackjack/giveaway tournaments, included 2 free nights. Then thru October I can get week day nights at $29 and some weekend for $49. Not bad for the little amount of play I actually do.

I also found the dealers and pit, and players in general to be very friendly, social, and fun.

Nice pool and not crowded. Lots of shade also if needed. Food options everywhere there.
I even used the movie theater one day. $16 resort fee sucks plus no coffee in room. free paper at door though is nice.

I am a green chip BJ player and found comps were not the best. Host said it takes $100/hand for 4 hours for free room.
Sorry rooms are not that good. I just stayed 3 nights and will be interesting what comes my way now. Aliante use to comp
me lots with similar play when station ran them.

Overall enjoyed my stay there but if comps and $16 resort fee stays I doubt I will be back. I have plenty of
free offers around town to use first.

I wish I knew how you guys were getting offers. I really like Sunset and would love to try a higher end stations property but I get ZERO offers. I came 4000 points shy of platinum on a two night trip in March and haven't heard a thing from them. I also checked online and nothing. Something must be broken on my account.

Something def wrong. I stopped by the property on day for lunch in 2012, registered for a card and according to the year end statement my coin in slot play was about $500. I dropped about $200 that day. I am full COMP every month there. They gave me 6 days in June, no resort fees, nothing. I just got a mailer from they a couple weeks ago, full COMP the next three months.

"Broken" is probably right, sandman. Like I posted a couple of months ago, it might be a Canadian thing. Probably not intentional on Station's part. Have you tried to update your account info (address) on sclv.com? Does not work. Snail mail address should not matter for online offers, but maybe we're disqualified for "invalid" account info.

I never stayed at Sunset Station, but visited their casino awhile ago...I liked the vibe from the casino...and the drink service was really good! So good in fact, that the screwdrivers kept getting stronger and stronger (and I'm a nickel slot player...haha) ^^

I pass by this place every trip and have never stopped.

I'm going to have to check this out. Good drink service is getting rarer.

Sandman I don't think that Sunset sends out any comps to Canadians. It was years ago but I went and got a card at Sunset and played a couple of times but never got any mail from them.

From downtown (4th and Carson) on the HDX it is a 24 minute ride to Sunset. And from there it is a short ride on the same bus to Fiesta Henderson.

    http://www.rtcsnv.com/wp-content/uploads/routes/2013/HDX(07-07-13).pdf

However, it does not run 24/7; scroll down to see the "no service gap" times after midnight until morning. This is a residential bus and much cheaper than the strip buses, $2 each way or $5 for 24 hour pass.

Buses allow luggage, so you could have a trip in which you stayed downtown for part and at either of these places for another part.

Too many Buffalo slot machines. Like 200 of them. I think 1 out of every 3 slot machines in that place is a Buffalo slot machine. Come on, guys! Mix it up a little.

All in all, its a solid place. I prefer Sante Fe Station.

We stop by there to play almost every trip. Love the casino but the rooms don't do it for me. Have to say, though, that we've been spoiled by staying at GVR and RR. The rooms aren't bad but do need updating.
