So just got back from second trip in three weeks and in my mailbox is a voucher for 200 in FP from M Resort. My next planned trip is probably 7/2 and this offer expires 6/28. Say M life gives me 400 for brief stay that is 600. Worth making the drive? How much would you need to make the 275 mile drive?

I make the 5 hour 300 mile drive to Tunica all the time for $150-200 FP.

I don't need any free play to make a 4hr drive to Vegas...I just need the OK from the wifey. I just stick $500 in a slot, hit the cash out, and consider the $500 TITO a freeplay voucher to myself...lol.

I don't think freeplay gets me to go gambling...In my case, my drive is to AC not Vegas.....But, whenever I get the bug to go to Vegas or AC I look at the package of offers. If I didn't get some freeplay and free rooms I am not sure if I would go as often as I do.

If I lived that close I wouldn't need an excuse to go. I have driven to our local casino an hour away for $20 freeplay just because I enjoy it!

A 550 mile drive at the IRS reimbursement rate of $0.585 per mile is about $321 so that's one way to look at it. They figure that's what the average wear and tear is for an average car. If you have a new car the cost is actually higher, VW diesel its lower.

For me FreePlay doesn't do the trick. I was offered $1500 FP at Borgata twice and wouldn't make the drive to AC. It's a five hour trip for me. I'd rather have resort credit, a nice hotel in a location I like, things other than gambling to do in the area and a variety of restaurants.

    To each their own however.

For an 16 hour(round trip) to VEGAS, I'd say probably $400 (It'll cost $100 in gas, $50 to rent the car, then I want some to eat on.)
For Reno/Tahoe, I'd do it for $200, because the gas is cheaper, and I can drive there/back in a day (Hell, I DID do it for $200 a month or so ago!)

A 4 hour drive and I would need execuses NOT to go. I'm pretty sure I would be there every other weekend at only 4 hours away. . .

I am too far away to drive - but I do get FP offers from the Louisiana places. I have driven over for a couple hundred bucks.

Right now I have $300 in chips from Golden Nugget and $225 in chip from L'Auberge and $100 from Isle....but I am holding firm and not making any gambling trips until I hit Vegas in July.

If I did not have a Vegas trip planned then I would drive over.

While I was typing this I was thinking "well I could just drive over and hopefully turn it into additional bankroll for Vegas..."

    Hmmmmm

I drove 6 hours round trip in one night because my parents forfeited their $220 freeplay at Harrah N. Kansas City to me and had to stay after midnight to double dip. Yeah, that's pretty degenerate looking back on it. So obviously $200 would be plenty for me for Vegas.

lol...i could just play them all as pass line bets...I think I can be strong!

The cool thing about the GN is they are available at the Vegas location too...so I will definitely be stopping DT to grab them

    Agree with this.
I got a $1200 FP offer from Cosmo last year and I did not jump on a plane.
If I'm scheduling a trip I may look at a FP offer but it will not change my plans.

Interesting...anyone ever ask for comps based on the irs mileage for your drive? At that rate they may as well pay for your flight though I guess.

Last time I got $600 in Freeplay. In the end, it cost me well over $1,000.

Just saying... freeplay is just the carrot. They get that and more back in a hurry.

If I want to make a trip, I do try to see what offers I have and take advantage of them though.
