Will be in Vegas for 3 nights and a half a day...how much would you use to play on? Is there any casinos that still offer free play or match play?

Are you asking about gambling budget? If so, you'll get as many different answers as there are people posting here. But I'll answer anyway....I bring anywhere from $250-450 for gambling each day. The lower end of the range is for arrival and departure day. I usually have $50 or so budgeted for food (I eat cheap and only 2 meals a day) and if I spend more than that, it comes out of the gambling budget. I also use the envelope system putting each day's budget into the safe apart from that day's. Anything left over rolls into the following day and sometimes if I'm lucky, I don't open envelopes for a few days. Works for me.

I can't answer the other part of the question though.

As little as possible. I call my bank and up the ATM withdrawal limit to $1500 a day. Thats my bankroll but I dont want to spend it all so I try to limit myself if Im taking a beating.

It really depends on your comfort level. I, like dancemom, set a daily limit of what I'm comfortable losing, and only take that cash with me when I head out for the day. If I blow through that in a couple of hours, that's it for gambling for the day.

I have a separate budget for meals, because that's part of the Vegas experience for me, but I think you can very easily get by on under $50. Check out one of the happy hour lists (here's an example http://lvhhtime.com/)for food and drink specials.

Nobody will be able to define this for you but get us in the ballpark. Are you playing penny slots, quarter or dollar VP, Baccarat, BJ etc?

I bring $3000 for 5 days and can easily play $5 and $10 craps on that budget for about 6-8 hours per day including breaks and casino hopping. I don't budget "per day" but rather per trip. At the limits I play at, it would be challenging to bust out early.

This is of course anecdotal but I hope it helps.

No idea if you are a slot player.

I play $10-$15 craps and over a 4 night stay I buy in 30-35 times at $300 each time. I've done this and come out at the end of the trip on top, but if you don't have some hot streaks it's going to get expensive real quick depending on your bankroll size. I basically play pass line full odds, 3 come bets full odds, $5 - $10 hard ways, come out roll $25 Horn hi.

I typically play blackjack at $5 & $10 minimum tables - and, when I can, I'll spread my bets up, probably averaging about $20 hand overall.
I budget $500/ day gambling at this level.
If I have a good day, then I will increase my average bets...but not at the expense of my budget - always with winnings.
If I start the next day with, say, $1000 - then that next day will see higher average betting (or a craps or 3-card poker diversion).
This upcoming trip, I'm planning to give Mississippi Stud a try. That will only be done with blackjack winnings though!

A little cash gets put aside when possible into the gambling fund.
The time between trips along with how much was saved, how much OT was worked and what unexpected bills arise all play a part in determining the answer to your question. :peace:

I pretty much do the same for 3 days. I hate having that much cash on me, but the hotel safes are usually pretty secure.

This is it perfectly. Now add one more to the pot: I get paid weekly, so when we have 5 paydays in a month, most of that check goes into the kitty for my BR!

So it averages out to $300/day. Food is mostly free (with points, comps, or MyVegas). If the daily BR is gone early, then I'm off to the room for some libation lubrication, then back down to watch everyone else with my room made drink in tow! :drunk:

I usually bring 4-5 k to get going but have lines of credit at several locations. Depending on what I am playing, some games are looking for an LOC faster than others.

A couple weeks ago we went to Laughlin for four days with a day trip to Vegas. Loss was absolutely horrendous the first three days only to win most of it back the last few hours. Sweet.

Paid three markers off with cash. Not saying how much (in case my wife reads)

One thousand per day. Strictly for gambling. I play 99% craps. The other 1% is quarter VP, with one eye constantly watching the crap tables, checking to see if it's time to jump in....

Wide open question. The answers can go from $5 a day to $10,000 or more per day. All depends.

    Pretty much the same as:

    Which is the best hotel?
    Which is the best casino?
    Which is the best pool?
    Which is the best show?

Bottom line - there is no good answer.

    This.

However, if we knew the following, it would help:

    1. What game does the OP prefer to play?
    2. What is the average bet the OP wagers playing this game?
    3. What is the typical combined time-duration of the OP's gambling sessions per day?

For me, it's pretty easy - Blackjack, $18, 12-hours daily.
If I actually net-lose 1 avg. bet out of 100 (a very-high 1% HA) that's still only about $250 a day...maybe up to $350, depending on the speed of the game.

I'm a low roller in every sense. If I can swing a four day three night trip I take 1000/1200 cash for my vegas money. That has to cover gambling, transportation while there (usually a cab from/to airport and bus if going downtown), soda at the store and tips. I usually make sure my daily budget allows for me to have 100/200 left over on the last day (assuming I am losing), but not necessary. I pay for all rooms and food with my Debit card, usually only eat once a day, twice if the first meal was small and I eat cheap usually. I don't usually carry the debit card outside my room unless going to eat in order to save the temptation of going to the atm.

Last trip I took 1100 cash and came home with only 50 of it, lost close to 1800 if you factor in the money I won but turned around losing again.

As some said, how long is a pice of string?

I take what I can afford to lose, so it varies. I don't plan to lose it but if I do I payed for my entertainment and still got home and wife left. At that lvl it stings to lose and it's great to win.... so 10k for someone is 1k for someone else, but still kinda the same....

Even then, it is still hard to answer.

One person can play qtr slots with $20 a day. I have blown through a few thousand on penny slots in an evening. All varies by the person.

I'm good with $400 per day for everything. Gambling, food and drinks. Shows and nicer restaurants go on the credit card.

I like slots and blackjack mainly but will have a go on anything after a few beers.
