I've been trying my best to figure it out, and I've gotten nowhere. So far I've gotten:

    1 bedroom regular suite
    2 bedroom regular suite
    1 bedroom penthouse suite
    2 bedroom penthouse suite
    ?? bedroom corner suite (??)

would the corner suite be a step (cost-wise) above a regular suite, but below a penthouse suite??

The corner suites are not part of the Sky Suites in the separate Sky Suites tower.

You pretty much hit it on the head, there is an Aria Suite in a 1- and 2-bedroom variety, and a Penthouse Suite in a 1- and 2-bedroom variety. I believe they also count the Sky Villas as part of the Sky Suites, as they are in the separate SS tower and come with the same amenities.

And, once you have figured that out, there is the location issue. Somebody did a nice video of a suite with a view of the fountains. Very few have that view.

so essentially, there really is no real advantage to staying in a Sky Suite, outside of the limo pickup/drop off, 'separate' check-in, and occasional free glass of wine in the lounge??

my original idea was to go with a Cosmo wraparound. Maybe I'll stick with that.

Essentially, correct. Sky Suites does offer a dedicated concierge, the lounge for snacks/drinks, the airport transportation, and a level of service I've only seen matched/surpassed by SkyLofts. They also have the steam shower, which I find myself missing when I am not in Sky Suites or SkyLofts :)

There's also the panoramic sky suites and panoramic corner sky suites, which have the separate master bedroom suite with spa bathroom, which are a whole other world above the others.

What rooms have the butler service? I remember Jilly from Philly talking about that in one of his trip reports from Aria.

I believe only the SkyLofts (at MGM Grand) offer this.

The Sky Villas have butler service. Occasionally the service will be extended to big time gamblers who don't quite qualify for a villa.

so if I understand this correctly, the only way I'll get a corner and/or panoramic suite is if I spring for a penthouse, rather than just a 1 bedroom??

Is there any suite at Aria that has 2 beds that isn't a SkySuite?

Lionel,I have never paid a resort fee in the Sky Suites but I have been comped.
There is free wifi in the rooms and private lobby .
I have never received a welcome cocktail but drank plenty under my F+B credit.
I have received line passes which I have used at Cafe Vettro .
I have never received or asked for an escort to the front of the taxi line.
I have stayed in the Sky Suites the last 4 trips to Las Vegas and usually use the north cab stand.
I can never remember a line there more than one or two people.

awesome, thanks luvstp, and everybody else for the help. I've been killing myself trying to choose between Cosmo Wraparound and a Skysuite.
With all this info, I'm gonna go with the Skysuite

You are making the right decision.
Forgot to mention the private lobby has seperate elevator banks.
You will usually be alone on the SkySuite elevators.
In the Cosmo,it is not uncommon for there to be a line waiting for the elevator that can be 5-10 minutes.
    No wating at SkySuites.

awesome. I ended up booking the Sky Suite yesterday, got a great deal at a fairly reduced price and a $50 dining credit.
we stayed in a corner suite in 2011 and LOVED the property, so I'm really looking forward to pretending to be semi-wealthy for a couple of days in the Sky Suite.

I have stayed in the Aria Sky Suites several times and I absolutely love it!

As for the "Sky Suite Unique Features" - some of them are frankly a bunch of crap. I don't think I was ever given a special line pass there (maybe you have to ask?), but anyone with a certain level of MLife card can bypass the Cafe and Buffet line at any MGM property so this seems fairly worthless.

I have never seen anyone escort people to the front of the Aria taxi line BUT I have a Platinum card and have not yet tried to "cut" to the front of the line although that is supposedly a perk. Anyone Platinum or above has front of the taxi line privileges at Aria, Sky Suite or not.

The free Wi-Fi is available to anyone throughout the Aria casino and City Center. It is not Sky Suite exclusive. And any guest of Aria can go the Business Center and print their boarding pass for free.

With all of that nonsense aside, the Sky Suite experience, from pickup at the airport in a limo to being brought through the private entrance to the guest lounge and private check in area is a great way to start off a Vegas vacation and set the right tone for a winning trip. You will have a blast!

Your Sky Suites key is your line pass. Remember not all guests are gamblers and have status

The line cut works well with platinum but again not all have status,

Free wifi in the casino is slower and limited to 2 hours access at a time so there is a difference.

Not trying to start a flame war but I think these items can add some value
