My first few trips I used to plan on where to go and what to do when in Vegas. Like printing out maps and such. After so many trips I don't do that anymore. Today is more about figuring out where to eat and that is about it.

The only out of the ordinary planning (not plane, car, hotel, show etc.) I do now is checking Luv-it's website to see what the flavors of the day are during my visit.

That's where I see it. The threads aren't always titled Roll Call, but that's the gist of it.

Get back from a trip and immediately start checking rates for the dates I will probably be booking

Check VMB and other blogs daily

    Daydream of Vegas daily

Probably annoy people with my "next trip to Vegas" talk...seriously don't understand people that don't love this great place

Finally rally the troops into booking about 3mos out

    Book hotel rooms

    Book flights

    Start the "official countdown"

    Check daily for lower rates

Shop for my outfits...yes must have new clothes each time

Think of what we might do, watch Vegas shows and movies, continue to read VMB and blogs

FINALLY get on the plane and go and on the way home start all over again!

I'm an info junkie about things I enjoy admittedly. I'll research something to death and as a result, I am a walking encyclopedia for anyone who goes with us on the trip.

The message boards, groupon/travelzoo type sites, news specific to Vegas is all fair game. I like knowing the current state of affairs, such as construction, that can save me a bit of time during my trip.

I'm very bad at checking items off my to-do list for activities in Vegas. I never seem to be able to get to some of the non-gaming or non-show activities. Certain restaurants or things like ziplining remain on the list because we just don't get to them.

As trips have went on, I only pick one or two things per day that I want to do/see/visit, and everything else just falls into place while on the trip.

We're usually once a year visitors, and this year we weren't going to go, but I talked the wife into going. So, I'm especially indulging myself as this wasn't on the radar.

Always order the American Casino Guide a month or two before the trip, this year I decided on the LVA guide as well. Im two weeks out now, so sometime today or the next few I will start making a list of all the things I need to bring, crossing them out as I toss them in the backpack or suitcase. I always like to start a vitamin C regimen, sometimes taking airborn and hydrating well before the trip. Never want to imagine getting sick out there, would ruin my trip!

I always type up trip reports of trips, some I post, some I don't, but I still type them and save them either way. Once I book a trip, I'll go through my reports and make a note of which places I'd like to go again and which ones I'll avoid. These are just notes so even if I list a place as someplace I'd try again, it doesn't mean it'll happen, but it gives me an idea. If I list a place on my avoid list, then it definitely gets avoided unless I hear something about it that makes me decide to give it another shot.

I don't make plans in Vegas on a day to day basis. I'll make a list of things I'd like to try and if I'm in the area and feeling like doing whatever is on my list, I'll do. If not, it gives me a reason to return.

Usually within a couple of weeks to a month of my trip, I start hitting the forums pretty hard, reading reviews and trip reports, making sure to note anything that's new that might interest me.

I forgot one thing. I'm very particular about where I sit on planes so I obsessively check my flights to make sure my seats haven't changed.

The thing I do that most annoys my wife is go on the DVR and search keyword "Vegas" and record everything I can about Vegas including things I've seen 100 times before. I'll also always watch Vegas Vacation, The Hangover, Casino, and Oceans 11. This time around I've even watched The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (twice).

My wife and I book our trip well in advance and then the excitement begins. We are staying over 2 weeks our next trip so we are busy every day finding deals, coupons etc...We love planning but also leave time to be spontaneous as we've found these outings to be some our favorite "adventures" in Vegas.

    1. Before any trip, I make a list of all the activities I want to do in 10-15 days. This list is usually 2-3 pages long. A mix of favs and new places.

    2. A trip is not a trip until a flight is booked. The excitement for a trip is not real until this is done. Flight booked! Let's Go!

    3. Planning activities is a huge thing for me. Before I can start scheduling activities, I have to first book my hotels. Why? I schedule my activities based on the hotels I am around.

For example, if I want to use a slot coupon for Hooters and I want to check out Adventuredome for a half-day at Circus Circus, what do I think would make a better choice to go to for the day if I am staying at the Riviera? Going to Circus Circus right across the street makes more sense in my itinerary for that day. I would then try Hooters while I am at Excalibur.

Hotels are booked in a multitude of ways (hotwire, comps, booking.com, myvegas, etc) and can take weeks of back-and-forth to determine the best time, rates and places. Sometimes I do book hotels around activities such as the Billboard awards. I like to stay near the award show so that I will not have to take the bus all dressed up. However, most times I choose the hotel and then do activities nearby.

    4. Just planning activities before the trip is a whirlwind of activities (as much as the activities themselves when i get there) that keeps me super busy between trips and so the anticipation nicely builds. And with each new thing in Vegas, I add something to my list. I plan down to the hour and I do a lot of things in Vegas (clubs, movies, amusement park, spas, pools, beautiful pools, gorgeous pools, theatre, theatre, theatre, shows, shopping, museums, lounges, cheap eats, buffets, etc). The intention is to do everything I am meaning to do.

    5. This is the first pool season that I will be going to dayclubs...and plenty of them. So, I also hope to get trimmer. I have also been doing this since the New years. I had a cupcake yesterday but so far so good.

    6. I come on VMB all the time and see what new ideas I can find.

    7. I am usually packed for my vacation weeks in advance.
