When you are in the mood to Hit & Run in hopes of a quick hit what game do you play?

I'll place $100 on Red on Roulette.

    Cheers

My personal favourite is free bet blackjack. You still have a close to 50/50 shot as you would in regular blackjack - and you get to benefit from splitting/doubling without having to put up any extra money, to get more than a 100% possible return. Of course, you also benefit from not having to put up another big bet for hands you have to split/double on.

If not that, then banker hand on baccarat.

    ...unless you get a soft-double against a dealer 6... (eg - Ace-6 versus dealer 6)... :)

...but that said, I would go with freebet as well...or a 'blind' UTH hand of $100 ($15 ante/blind, $10 Trips, & $60 on play (in the blind).

Edit-to-add: With UTH, as a 'single-event' hit-and-run bet, your odds of winning at least $35 on your $100 wager is exactly 50/50. Does any other casino wager offer that?

100 on black or odd in roulette, if I lose then 200 on one of those. if I lose then 400 on one of those, if I lose then 800 on one of those. if I win then im up a quick 100 and if I lose im down a quick 1500 and not in a very good mood.

But you NEVER lose 4 in a row right??

I'm a carny whore. I'll either put two $25 chips on the jokers of that Big Money Wheel thing that has a horrible house edge, or I'll take 2 and 12 for one roll on the craps table.

And by carny whore, I just meant that I'm a sucker for games that I know pay bad odds. I'm not, like, the official prostitute of a carnival or something like that.

Ah, a basic strategy perfectionist :)

Your odds are so good on such a hand it's worth putting up the extra $$$ in my opinion, even if you're doubling for less. Second-worst that can happen is dealer gets 22 and you push. Worst that can happen is you lose.

I agree. I still do all of my soft-doubles when playing freebet... I'm funny like that.

There's really no shame in doing this, IMO. "Bad odds" bets pay well because they're bad odds. They discourage the strategic gambler because they're thinking in terms of "If I play 100 rounds this outcome will only happen x amount of times, so it's a bad bet to play". The fact is, 2 and 12 will come up in craps, joker will come up on big six, 00 will come up on roulette, and suited 777 will come up on Spanish 21. Having a shot at the big payout is kind of like buying a lottery ticket - if you don't get it, you don't sweat it - and if you get it, you'll be well thankful.

And it's really the last bet I place in the casino. For instance, I was recently ahead by $650. So I put the $50 on 2 and 12. A 3 was rolled. Oh well...I walked away six bills to the good and didn't look back.

I'll admit, I've hit & run HARD in poker twice in my life. Usually I'll wait around for an extra half-hour or so after a monster win, but there were definitely two times in my memory where I pulled in a huge pot and left within 5 hands. Something about winning a huge pot changes the way I feel or look at the game. I feel bad, but it's whatever. They'll get over it, right?

I've done a few $200 hands of BJ, won both and walked. Have also done a $400 Roulette hit and run. That one had me sweating pretty good and that's my biggest bet to date. I won that and left right away.

$100 on the field at the craps table.

Last time in Vegas I was at a table at MC and a guy walked straight up and put $1000 on the field... did this 3 times straight and won all 3. Walked away with $3000 in about 2 minutes. That's clean living I guess!

Craps- Buy the 4 or 10 for one or two hundred. If it hits pay the vig and let it ride until it wins or loses. The first time I did this I bet $200 and it hit the first leg but lost after a few rolls.

I won on two other times betting one hundred, walking away with $600 and $700 after staying one shooter too long.

Uh-oh, now I have two new ways to swing for the fences....

To me a "hit and run" is more like when you play a game for a bit then you hit a good streak or a big payout and then leave shortly after. What you're talking about in this thread is committing some cash to one decision in order to hit a big payoff. Or what I would call "swinging for the fences." I've done the $100 on black thing a couple times. One once, lost once.

Last trip I decided to take $200 and do a series of these bets in my favorite games. I did two hands of $5 VP for $25 each, won $50 for a base hit, then I did two $10 pulls of a slot machine, whiffed both, then two $25 hands of BJ, swing and a miss, then on to craps for the hard 6 and 8 for $15 each, gone in a heartbeat, then finally did two spins of roulette with $5 on each of 5 numbers, hit one number on the second spin! So all in all I lost $20 bucks... but had fun doing it. :drunk:

    Next time!

I hit and run on Top Dollar machines when the mood strikes me. I find a bank of them then will play until I hit the bonus and move on to the next one. I've not hit any big wins (except when I dropped a hundy into a $5 machine and pulled $500 off the bonus), but I do like to see when I can get Top Dollar symbol lined up on several machines that are side by side.
