I occasionally read the forums here that list offers that people get from different casinos. In some of the posts, people talk about getting anywhere from $100 to $5,000 in free play or promo chips. I have never once gotten an offer for promo chips or free play.

I gamble and stay exclusively at MGM properties (Aria, Mandalay and Bellagio). I go to Vegas 4-6 times a year for 3-4 days per trip. On every trip I have a $10K-$15K line of credit and budget. I play BJ, craps and light roulette and always average around 3.5 to 5 hours of gambling per day at $300-$500 hand averages. I can get suites at Aria and Mandalay Bay and am RFL at $350 per day, with only occasional trips where everything is not comped.

However, I have never been offered or received free play or promo chips. Is this something I need to ask my host about, or is my play not high enough for these offers?

From what I can tell, freeplay pretty much goes to slot players. They are less open to giving out table play. But, I would ask.

You appear to be in their "system" since you are getting suites, rfl, etc.

forget promo chips exist. you'll never get any at the MGM props. they've completely done away with the promo chips except for really, really high players. I know people with massive theos and the actual losses to match and they might get $1000 in promos, which is a total joke since their avg bet is 5x that. not only that, if they give you promos they take it out of your airfare on the backend, so you're really paying for it either way.

free play is a different story. it's given out very freely, but only given to slot players. so if you put in a few hours a day at the slots, you'll get offers that include FP.

My host confirmed what shifter said. They do not give any promo chips for table play.

However I stayed at the aria for the first time this pastmonth and they do not provide airfare if you have a winning trip. Can anyone confirm this? Even with a 29k theo no airfare....that like $4k at other properties.....

I play at a similar level to you, sometimes a bit larger, and I only get promo chips at their tunica property. So yeah, I wouldn;t count on it

Well.....I wasn't gonna say anything bad about MGM. I was gonna hold my tongue, but since you mentioned it....

....I hadn't thought about it but all I've had are freeplay offers. The last time I saw promo chips was July 2010....

My experience at NYNY is that Freeplay offers can be used as Promo Chips.

My offers include Freeplay - between $100 - $200 each time with free rooms. (I just pulled out my newest offer - it says $100 FREEPLAY - similar to all the previous few years of offers).

I simply go to the cashier cage and ask for Promo chips and they give them out - even asking what denomination you want (ie. $25 chips or $100 chips).

This has been going on for years.

I play Pai Gow Poker, with average bet around $75 / hand - putting in the suggested 4 hour sessions (normally more) per day.

I have the same budget/play at cosmo. I typically get anywhere from 650-800 in promo chips per trip. I have heard a lot of complaints about cosmo but I have always been treated more than fairly.

Last time I had NYNY Promo chips I realized they were single-play rather than play-til-lose like Bellagio, Aria, Mirage, etc. so I always changed the other way into freeplay from then on.

I must have been fortunate - I've always had play-til-u-lose chips at NYNY (not the one time only). Maybe being on a Pai Gow table is different? I've been using Promo chips for about 5 years and never had a problem there.

Even during the summer of 2012, Excalibur gave me $250 Promo chips and let me 'play til u lose' .

Am I simply lucky, or are there different rules depending on the game you play?

Cosmo has been treating mid to strong players very well until a few months ago. They've been getting rocked by high limit BJ players. DD now hit s17 and max bets now limited to $10k and 2 hands despite any CL. Shoe games are still the same with variable max bets.

Comps are getting tighter. Very hard to get hard comps and gratuity picked up anymore. However promo are still better than mgm, cet, or wynn for domestic players. For this chinese new year for strong players they have a $6k visa/promo chip with $25k theo plus airefare or $4k for $12.5k theo plus airefare. New airfare policy has changed to actual fares for 2 (hint book refundable first class). Havent seen a better offer yet.

They are scared of too strong players like natedogg. His action is too big for a single property casino like the cosmo. They don't have the billions in revenue to spread the risk across like cet, mgm, or wynn. Dont know if it's simply coincidence but after natedoggs visit lsst week the were some changes in marketing guidelines and personnel....

Coincidence, but while on the golf course at cascata with one of their big executives they fired the guy right under him, who was in charge of all high limit play and ratings.

For Blackjack I can do 3 hands at 10k or 1 hand at 25k. Big action for blackjack should go to CP. you are right about Cosmo

Guess for the whales they still allow for special limits. Cant say I swim in the same ocean.... Few weeks ago, we were informed that it was 2 hands max at $10k for DD. The guy with $500k cl was told his max bet of $25k was for shoe games only.

Your right nate, at CP even a guy walking off the street can place a $50k hand

before I switched to the freeplay, the individual properties within MGM bounced back and forth occasionally on their treatment of the promo chips. I know for sure all my offers for Mirage and Bellagio had $1,500 play-til-lose promo chips while NYNY was $3,000 single use.....

Jeez, learning new stuff. You can get your airfare refunded too? Man, I am not asking for enough stuff. I don't gamble as high as NateDogg, but I think I may be leaving free stuff at the tables. Any other freebies I am missing out on?
