    My Trip Report

    Hello VMB Friends!

I’ve always said that the only cure for an exhausting Vegas vacation is a beach vacation directly after, but until now I’ve never had the chance to implement my theory.

Just a week removed from a bankroll-saving comeback at The Cosmo, I departed for sunnier climes than dreary Chicago.

This trip was originally planned with Borat, but due to his in-laws popping in for a visit, he was unable to make this trip. Having already reserved the partially comped cruise, I went for plan B and replaced Borat with my 10-year old daughter Shnar Bear. Later I decided she might need the company of her 6-year-old little bro Seany so we added him to the mix. Flights weren’t bad and the overall deal was actually super cheap.

Probably a little of bit insanity mixed in with a lot of stupidity, but it actually didn't work out too bad considering my daughter was sick with a cold the last day and my son kinda ran out of steam the last 2 days.

I think it was good not having too many competing agendas, the three of us all share interests in buffet gluttony, video games, and pool partying.

We only had a few meltdowns, usually fighting over what to watch on TV during the afternoon breaks, where to eat, what game to play. The biggest meltdown was when both were crying during BINGO cause they couldn't hear all the numbers and get them punched out on all 6 cards in time for the next number.

The best was the drinking-video game bribery/compromise situation. Ok so if you give us each $10 on the arcade card you can have one blue long island, etc. Those drinks got pretty expensive with the arcade tax!

Oh and I almost forgot the CONSTANT squabble over who got to use the key to open the door.....but I saw at least 2 other sets of kids having that fight in our hallway so its almost a baseline given.

Certainly not the typical BeeeJay trip report - but entertaining all the same. I've done 28 trips to Vegas and no cruises....might be time to change it up...

Thanks for taking the time to post!

haha....well if it makes you feel any better, we have every one of those same meltdowns when out and about! As for the squabble over who gets to use the roomkey to open the door......we now have a line-up. One opens it, goes inside, passes the key, shuts the door to lock it. Next child uses the key, shampoo, rinse, repeat. You just better hope you don't need to use the bathroom on the way back to the room as the whole process getting in the room takes FOREVER!!!

Yeah, for a guy who likes beach/pool time I think it's gonna be hard for me to justify Vegas over a cruise for winter trips in the future, especially given the worsening strip odds.

And did they argue over who got to push the buttons in the elevator? That one used to drive me nuts!

It sounds like you and the kids had a great trip BeeeJay. Thanks for sharing!

Oh yeah, totallly, but we almost always took the stairs from 6 to 11, so as to allow more buffet calories!

    Be grateful for the meltdown......
My kids eventually started to just try and go at the SAME time, one girl and one boy, after getting in trouble from us for fighting each other over who got it first. Ewww. Parental failure #8,468.
