Going with a group of guys for Conference Championship Week (Basketball).
    March 14th-17th. 3 nights

    Looking for a casino with
    - good location
    - Lower table limits (non peak hours)
    - Decent rooms
    - Not too pricey (Wynn/Bellagio/Venetian/Caesars)

We found a deal at NYNY for 3 nights (Friday/Sat/Sun) for $475 after taxes/resort fees.

I have never stayed at NYNY and am looking for reviews, feedback or suggestions for other hotels.

In the past we have stayed at MGM, Bellagio, Ballys, Rio, Harrahs, and Venetian.

    Thank You

I stayed there over Thanksgiving. I was happy with the hotel. Loved the food options - nice vibe in the casino. The casino, slot wise, was a little smaller than I cared for - being used to the size of the Bellagio. I was in a suite, so I can't speak to the regular rooms. I like the south strip, so the location was great for me - but not everyone would consider it a good location. I didn't find the outside construction to be inconvenient at all.

Have eaten in NYNY twice but have not stayed there.

On MLife Monte Carlo is $337.45 before taxes and resort fees for the deluxe room where you can choose 2 queen beds. A few bucks more for a strip view or a high floor room.

I've stayed there twice and really enjoyed it. More low key imho.

    Just another option.

Overall I like NYNY. "Good location" is subjective. Many like to be south of Bellagio/Caesars, closer to PH/City Center, etc.. Others prefer to be north, Flamingo/Harrah's, etc... Personally I prefer south. I think NYNY fits right in with where you've stayed before. It's not Bellagio or Venetian but it's nice.

If basketball is a big part of your weekend, I think you will be disappointed in the sports book. However, I think NYNY is a nice place to stay and play.

I like NYNY. The hotel rooms are definitely nicer than Monte Carlo's rooms (they always get compared because they're in the same level on the MGM property scale).

It's a step below MGM Grand for sure, but I've stayed at NYNY twice and was pleased with my room both times. And I consider myself somewhat of a hotel snob.

I just stayed there last week with a friend. The room felt like a holiday inn. Not special, but quiet enough if you're just sleeping there. If it's a group of guys prolly np. I don't think if bring my wife for a weekend getaway though.

The casino is average. They've got low limit tables. But the slot selection are def not great. They do have a bank of 9/6 vp which can give your hours of play with little risk if you like VP. It's just a small wall to MGM too.

If price is the primary concern go with NYNY, but if you're looking for a bit nicer room just stay at MGM and walk over to NYNY.

I guess it's an expensive time. Nothing about NYNY excites me though and it's under massive construction. If that's the best deal, then go for it. It's a fine place. I don't think you will be dissapointed. It's not wort paying $200 or $300 more to stay somewhere else

I did a quick search, and there isn't really a better deal out there.

Would be surprised if you found yourself heading to MGM to watch the game.
My living room is larger than the NYNY sports book.

NYNY puts you in a good location because you have Excalibur, NYNY and Monte Carlo (and Tropicana) close by. Any one of these should fit your lower table limit and not too pricey. The location is very good but not center strip.

I would say its a step up over Ballys and Harrahs.
Not really a fan of the rooms as the bathrooms are very small.
Overall I really enjoy NYNY. Great selection of games and especially food too.

What type of room are you getting for over $100/night. I would have to assume it is not their base room.
I would not be paying $100+ a night for NYNY unless it was one of their suites.

    Construction is only out front.

Sports book is small, but they have a big sports bar.

Decent place, decent food options. Walk across the street to MGM with tons of options. Slightly longer walk to Excal and Luxor and MB.

    Rooms are basic, but fine.

Good options all the way around.

I've stayed at both and like both. The NYNY Sportsbook is tiny. You can place bets there easy enough, but getting a seat maybe tough. However, more importantly, I wouldn't want to sit there and watch games because it's not confined area like most sports books are.

I'd go w/ Monte Carlo instead. Walking to NYNY is easy enough.

I love nyny. Its my favorite casino. The sports book is small but seldom full and never long lines for bets. I often have my morning cigarette and coffee in there watching sports center and picking my bets then watch elsewhere if I care to
