    Hello all,

I just called NYNY Mlife services to see if I could get a free room for 2 nights in May. They directed me to a host and the host quickly comped 2 nights - very easy and quick!

    Couple of questions:

    1. I'm a low roller so I was surprised to be directed to a host but do I HAVE to meet with this host at all while I am there?

    2. Would a small gift card be needed? Would it leave a good impression? Should I give one?

    Thank you in advance.

Even many larger players never meet up with their host.

Many have never met their host. So, therefore even less have given the host a gift.

The casino will get your money. The host will get paid.

I've never met my host and I've had her for almost a year, probably will this trip though. I also feel like I don't need to bring her anything, trust me, she's gotten paid plenty off of my play! Don't worry too much about it :)

I've had several hosts thruout the years. First one
at mirage that was awesome. He went above and
beyond for us. Then he retired. It never occurred to
me to thank him with a gift. Then I read online
about people thanking their hosts so I did give a
generous cash gift to my next host and not was
never even acknowledged. Currently I have a host
at Ballys that I have only corresponded with via
email and phone. I do verbally thank her but will
not be going out of my way to meet her or give
her a gift. I feel as if they are just doing their job.
One which they get compensated very nicely for. IMO

I enjoy the nyny as well. I'm a low roller as well but sometimes get some decent offers for nyny and all I really need is a basic park ave or Madison ave room. My offers are usually 1 or 2 free nights with the others being really cheap.

What level do you normally play at? I'd love to have a host set stuff up for me.

I play strictly slots so I think that helps with my offers/play but when I was just in Vegas for 6 days in December I stayed at the Mirage. I played maybe say $250 out of pocket a day. No idea how much that is in coin in, etc but I did make Pearl + pretty easily. Mirage did comp approximately $375 off my bill when I left though.

I really wasn't expecting to be connected to a host but she just got my name and players card info and reserved it within 1 minute. Maybe try calling the Mlife desk there?

So just call and ask if I can have a couple of comped nights? Guess it doesn't hurt just to ask.

Your coin in for slots is usually easy to calc assuming a 10% hold. Your $250 would end up being $2400 to $2500 coin in assuming you played it all the way thru. Converted to points and then tier credits you'd easily hit pearl starting from zero. Throw some spending in and you should hit gold without much of a sweat.

I just want to say that calculating it off of amount lost can be wildly inaccurate.

Assuming you gambled through your $1500(6 days, $250/day), the $375 seems about what is expected. So it sounds like you were able to get a decent amount of play out of your money.

I am also surprised you were offered a host as at that level they really aren't needed. I'd be curious to know what offers you have on the Mlife.com site. It is very possible that such an offer would be on your account.

As others have pointed out, many people never meet there host. You can certainly meet them, but I don't think it would be expected of you.

I have a 2 night comp from mirage on the site, but nowhere else. I wanted to stay at the south end of the strip so I called around. I, too am surprised about the host. Luxor mlife desk would comp me 2 nights upfront as well but without a host.

Bayou, I just called several MGM properties and asked for them to review my play and see if they could do anything for me. Worth trying...

Thanks for all the info everyone.
