Hey all, i'm probably missing the obvious post where this was answered 1000 times, but...

I haven't been to Hoover Dam in a while, and am taking my brother there this Thursday. It'll be his first Vegas trip :wink2:

SO, i'm wondering if one way is better than another to get out there (first time I'll be driving there), and if there's anything worth stopping to see along the way?

    Thanks for the help!:drunk:

If you are not in a hurry....take Boulder Highway(582)...lots of casinos and stores, restaurants...
Otherwise take 515 south...much faster as it is a highway.
THe 2 things that stand out in my mind from my trip a couple years ago were; breakfast at Omlette House at 316 N Boulder Highway in Henderson, and an Indian shop called D E Trading POst, 1300 Nevada Highway in Boulder City.

The hacienda has good cheap breakfast just before the Hoover dam exit on rt93. You Make sure you stop and walk across the Bypass bridge for an amazing view. Bring a camera. Then go park on the Arizona side for ease of parking to visit the dam.

Any time we took visitors to the Dam, we stopped here:

Also, make sure you drive up to the new bridge. Park your car on the NV side and walk over to see this view.

the big draw nowadays is the new bypass road and bridge overlooking the dam. there is a parking lot on the way to the dam where you can park and walk up to the bridge. Joe's picture I think was taken from the bypass bridge.

You get a nice panoramic view overlooking the dam from the bridge.

Lake mead is also a good look and if you follow lake mead you can end up at lake las vegas too.

have fun! go early to avoid the big crowds, sometimes the parking lot to view the bypass bridge gets filled up (usually by 11 am) so best to get there before 9:30 or 10 am to find parking. Not sure if that's the case now but it was that way last year.
