    My Trip Report

If I screwed this up, sorry. It’s my first attempt at having pictures in a report.

We left MSS at 6:30 AM on Saturday and headed for the shuttle bus staging area, which used to be a marina on Lake Mead before it dried up. Water level down over 200 ft, this used to be a boat launch.

Arrived at 7:15 and this was the wait ahead of us.

That’s one of those Disney lines that snake back and forth. Busses were supposed to begin leaving at 7:30, nothing happened until around 7:50.

The line behind us at 7:40am

    Line behind us at 8:00am

It was so stupid; they boarded all these double deckers one bus at a time. They hold about 70 people according to the driver, but they could have been loading 4 or 5 at a time.

Finally loaded and in route at 8:30 and the bus driver takes the wrong route and exits the new road. 15 more minutes wasted while they do traffic control and allow our bus up the off ramp.

Finally make it to the bridge and they drive to AZ, make a U turn and drop us off. Once again, only one bus at a time allowed to unload. Line of busses now stretches well back into AZ.

Ok, so were on the roadway part of the bridge. To access the pedestrian path you must climb over one of these three temporary ladders they installed. In order to get good vista pictures, you really had to do this.

The problem is instead of installing one ladder to go over and one to come back, all three were shared, So 10 people went over, then 10 people climbed back. Just ridiculous! This is the line to climb over.

Once over, now waiting in line to cross back.

I’m going to spare you the rest of the agonizing details but it took us 20 minutes to walk the bridge and then we waited in line for 1:15 to catch a bus back.
My prediction is the pedestrian walkway will either be closed or remodeled within 18 months because of suicides. It’s only about 5’ high, anybody can scale it.

More pictures of the dam etc here. Unfortunately my brand new rechargeable batteries didn’t last very long.

You can see how bad the "bathtub" ring is around Lake Mead. There was a story in the Sun that if the water level falls another XX feet, the water intakes that supply water to all of LV will be above water, and not sucking in.
