Kinda weird, but I'm excited about it. Wranglers have a loyal following. Will be interested to see how this goes.

"The structure itself is a fabric shell on a metal structure — a heavily reinforced tent, if you will. ".

Weird place, weird structure for a hockey rink, I hope it works out for the fans.

Fifth floor? Those elevators take forever now. An extra 3500 elevator users 3 x a week? They have a huge parking lot. Why not just put the tent up there? They can make it as big as they want and the parking is close.

I've gone to two Wranglers games at the Orleans Arena. While I was able to walk up and buy tickets just 30 minutes before the game both times, there were definitely more than 3,500 spectators in the arena. If this place at The Plaza only seats 3,500, tickets might be difficult to obtain for tourists.

Their hockey games are fun. In Salt Lake City, where I live, we have a hockey team that plays in the same league as the Wranglers. It's affordable entertainment for sure.

I've gone to two Wranglers' games. One was an 18 and over night and the other was one of their midnight games. I had a great time at both games. As someone who has gone to a bunch of minor league sporting events, I think the Wranglers do some of the best in-game entertainment things, for a limited operational budget. Having the team in downtown Vegas will make it much easier to attend games, and spit should increase their visibility to tourists.

However, like someone else said, if seating is only 3,500, don't expect to purchase tickets as a walk-up. I'll be planning on buying my tickets online, before my trip.

From what I've read, this was a pretty doouche bag move by the Boyd group canceling right before the league's deadline for teams to confirm their arenas for the following season.

Enjoyed going to games in the past and look forward to catching a game at the new arena downtown. Wonder if it will last over 5 years, or if they will secure a permanent structure at some point. I guess it wasn't very successful at Thomas Mack, but then again not much is beyond the rodeo and UNLV basketball.

Periodically you'll read about this or that group contemplating a new arena on/near the strip, but Vegas can barely keep minor league teams in town. They will never draw 20k / game for an NBA or NHL team, even if casinos purchase 15K of the tickets, and they can forget about 60-70k needed to secure a NFL team.

    Wranglers moving to the Plaza

Once again the Plaza is innovating. The LV Wranglers an ECHL hockey team, currently playing to crowds of 3400+ at the Orleans arena, will be relocating to The Plaza for the 2014-15 season. The plaza is going to erect an ice arena on the fifth floor between the towers, (I'm thinking where the tennis courts are), and utilizing the fifth floor as locker rooms and offices. This will be interesting to see how they pull it off. I can't imagine 3000 people using the elevators to access the arena and after the game. What will happen to the rooms that now face that direction, the view for a few floors will be obscured by the arena. Not sure how this is going to play out, parking may also be an issue.

This bums me out. Orleans was such a convenient way to see the Wranglers. Thanks for the info.

I hadn't thought about the elevator issue. That's been one constant complaint about the plaza. Those slow slow elevators. I wonder if they have a backup plan? They'll want everyone walking through the casino so I doubt there will be anything like a walkway built from the garage.

Hi All. Give us some time and hopefully I will be able to answer some of the questions regarding elevators etc during this great new Plaza adventure. :)
