I hardly ever play anything but craps and try to play only decent odds games but once in a while I will sit at a video keno machine for 10 minutes or so. Would rather play that than slots or video poker, I don't know why. Anyway according to the odds the chances of hitting 7 for 7 is supposedly about the same as hitting a royal flush in video poker. Obviously you are better off playing video poker because of the other ways of winning but yet if you are playing for the big hit, I believe you make 7000 to one instead of about 1000 for the big hit. My problem is that I have never heard of anybody ever winning this and it should not be so rare that it never happens. Does anybody personally know of somebody who has ever hit this?

My wife and I have hit 7-spots many, many times. Several years ago (when LVC was actually alive), we hit a bank of "Keno Plus" machines, playing 50-cents, 4 days in a row, for $3500 each time. More recently, in February 2011, Wifey hit 7-spot on 3 successive days, at Sam's Town, Tuscany and South Pointe... again, $3500 each time. Wife is unreal how she can select numbers.

We have never hit an 8-, 9- or 10-spot. Probably more of a function of not playing them as often.

I have seen 7 of 7 many times. Really not that rare. The most I have seen is a 9 of 9.

I play mostly 5 spots as it pays the same or a bit more than a royal and yet it hits on average of 1 every 1600 games. A royal hits on average about 1 in 40,000 hands

Back in the day Keno was the game of choice for me, I've also hit 7-7 MULTIPLE times, I remember wayyyyyy back in the day I hit 9-10 at the Riv, playing $0.25, and scored me a $1125 hit....that was LARGE when I was 21 years old!!!

I've never hit a 7/7 on video keno, but then I almost always play pick 4 or pick 5 (though I have started playing more pick 6 lately, but not yet his a 6/6). But I have seen people hit 7/7 at the casino before.

If you are going to compare video keno to video poker there are two ways to look at it: the odds of hitting versus the payout of hitting.

Remember in video poker that you need to be betting 5 credits to get the best payout on the royal flush and for the odds of hitting going 7 for 7 has some pretty similar odds (about 1 in 41,000 chance) but where betting 5 quarters in video poker pays 4000 credits back, betting 5 quarters in video keno and hitting 7/7 usually pays up around 35,000 credits back ($8750)

Thats from the odds perspective. If you want to compare via the payout side of things hitting 5/5 usually pays around 800 credits, so betting 5 credits at a time will payout 4,000 credits, which is the same payout for hitting a royal flush in video poker, except the odds of hitting 5/5 is much lower at a 1 in 1550 chance - so you would hit that a lot more frequently than you would a royal flush (about 25 times more often).

And just to round things out: if you play pick 6 the odds of hitting 6/6 is 1 in 7753 and the payout at 5 credits would be 8,000 credits when hit - for quarters that is paying double what a royal flush pays but hitting five times more often.

thanks for the answers , I just never came across reading about anybody hitting these, though I suspected that it could not have been that rare. It gives me some hope to hit one when I am in vegas in a couple weeks

When it comes to machine games, we tend to be more into video poker as a forum I guess. Generally better payback, with easy option for direct alcohol access. :evillaugh

Good luck when you get to Vegas!

We play Keno alot and we've never hit 7 of 7 because we usually stick to 5 or 6 numbers. On our next trip, we're planning on playing 4 card Keno with 7 numbers on each card. Long shot, I know, but we have seen big winners playing this way when they bundle the selections in one quadrant of the board and numbers overlap. Your bet will be at least 4 x as much but it's worth the chance. All you need is that little spark of good luck and the payoff will be fantastic. Wishful thinking.......

I have a relative that only plays keno and has hit 7/7 several times for like $6K each time. The other day at the local casino I hit 8/9 for $400, I really wish that would of happened in Vegas.

It does not matter at all, if it's gonna hit it's gonna hit. I do however have a few set of numbers I like to play.

I've been regularly lucky hitting 6 out of 6 by playing the following numbers:
    6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 20.

I've hit it within 15 minutes or after to 2 to 3 hours of play. You just never know. Persistence pays off.

usually, if I degenerate into video keno, I'll play a few hands of 2-spot, and hope I hit for whatever that pays (10-15 credits I think??)

One time, I did watch someone get 10 for 10 as it happened on a Cleopatra Keno bonus round in Charles Town, West Virginia. Whenever I play that game, the bonus round pays out nearly nothing, no matter how many spots I play.

Video Poker is one of my guilty pleasures, and I've never hit a royal, after playing for at least 7 years. :vomit:

I've hit 7/7 many many times when I used to play a lot of 20 card Keno at Red Rock when I lived 2 mins away.

I saw someone hit a 10/10 on a regular keno game once at Arizona Charlie's on Decatur, the person was betting 4 cents and won $400.

I usually play 4 card Keno with 8 spot quick picks. Hoping for 7/8 which comes up fairly often and is a nice payout. 6/8s come up pretty regularly and keep you in the game.

I've had a couple 7/7s but haven't had a real 8/8 yet- had one playing online

i think the likleyhood of me hitting anything substantial is rare, my numbers are 1-10. most I have hit is a 7/10 on those numbers on nickles for 3500 nickles.

The big draw to playing a pick 10 is how large the top prizes are... but the odds of hitting are pretty rare:

For a pick 10, the odds of matching:
    5 of 10: 1 in 20
    6 of 10: 1 in 88
    7 of 10: 1 in 621
    8 of 10: 1 in 7,385
    9 of 10: 1 in 163,382
    10 of 10: 1 in 8,911,712

So hitting the occasional 7/10 should be expected (about once an hour if you play regularly) but it is going to be pretty rare if you can get a 9/10 or 10/10
