Hi everyone. My name is Patsy and i will be visiting Vegas October 1st till October 15th with my sisters and daughter. We will be celebrating my 50th birthday. im worried about 2 things!! First im worried about being tunneled to our hotel from the airport and secondly im very worried about the tipping thing. I live in Scotland and we dont really have a tipping culture. Im not sure about how much to tip. I dont want to under tip but also dont want to over tip.

Hello, Patsy. Welcome to the board! I'm sure you'll find everyone very helpful here (with a few notable exceptions...and don't worry about them.)

To avoid being long-hauled (in the tunnel) just ask the cab driver to take surface streets. If you say it with authority, he'll assume that you're a regular and won't suffer his shenanigans.

As far as tipping goes, there are some great guides to tipping on the web. Here's one I like: http://www.vegas.com/traveltips/tips-on-tipping/

    And have an amazing time!

    Santé,
    TL

Welcome to the board Patsy! Having 2 weeks in LV sounds great....you will have time to see & experience so much. Which hotel are staying?? Folks on here can tell you the approximate amount the fare should be just so you have an idea. If there are more than 4 people in your group, you may want to consider taking a shuttle or reserving a limo to the hotel. Good luck & hope you all have a great time....please tell us about it with a TR!

Hi patsy, from a fellow scot. (glasgow) Don't worry about being tunnelled as others have said just say no tunnell unless you are staying way off strip this shouldn't be an issue.
As for tipping take a few dollar bills if you are gambling to tip the waitresses, for meals etc usually 15percent but it depends on the meal and the service.
Other than that enjoy your stay.

If you want to see the cocktail waitress more than once a week in the casino, tip a dollar a drink brought to you. Have it ready for her. Even if you are tunnelled it will only cost you about ten bucks more at most so don't worry too much about it. Where are you staying?
